Singer Mary J. Blige took to the stage last night in Detroit to perform at the 2nd Annual General Motors Night of Stars and Cars. Check out Mary above at the press conference rocking her signature honey blond bob and knee-high Alexander McQueen boots. Word has it Mary also celebrated her 37th birthday a day earlier with a surprise dinner with her father at a Detroit Restaurant.

Urban fashion icon, Mary J. Blige, was seen looking perfect from head to toe at the premiere of Queen Latifah’s new movie, Mad Money. At 37 years of age Mary can still clearly hang with the 20 year olds- but has no need to. As I told you before ladies, 40 or almost 40 just ain’t how many of you imagine it to be. Women like Mary are totally breaking the age barrier in music- proving you don’t have to be 20 and a dance diva in order to sell records.

Mary J. Blige is having a very good week. Her latest CD, Growing Pains, has taken the #1 position on the charts after debuting at #2 and now comes word the sista will also be gracing the cover of Vibe’s 2008 February edition. This is Mary’s fifty-eleventh cover and it is well deserved. After nearly 20 years of releasing music Mary is at her peak and shows no signs of slowing down. And always one to show love to her supporters, Mary is giving her fans a chance to pick her next (third) single. Singers Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, and Alicia Keys all started off their new year on stage. Alicia performed at NBC’s New Year’s Eve Bash, while Bey performed the final show of her Beyonce Experience tour in Vegas, and Jennifer Hudson performed at the Setai Club in Miami Beach.

It’s party season and this past weekend saw sista celebs doing it up big from coast to coast. Vegas had Brown Sistas coming out in force to help Jay-Z celebrate the grand opening of his new 40/40 Club. Beyonce was there of course and had little sister Solange in tow. Singer Mary J. Blige, Vanessa Simmons and actresses Tichina Arnold and Paula Patton also made appearances.
