Singer Estelle dominated the MOBO Awards last night taking home the award for Best UK Female and Best Song, beating out fellow Brit hit maker Leona Lewis. The MOBO Awards (Music Of Black Origin) are the British in origin, but are voted for by the public and thus reprsent general listening trends in the UK’s Black community. “The Mobo is a great award, recognised by the kids and the people who understand my music, and who get the music that we do,” Estelle told BBC news. Other winners of the evening included Leona Lewis and former Supremes singer, Mary Wilson, who was awarded The Lifetime Achievement Award and performed a medley of Supremes hits with British girl group The Sugarbabes.

The 25th Annual MTV Video Music Awards were held last night in Los Angeles, California and R n’ B divas were in full effect. Rihanna took to the stage, while Solange, Keri Hilson, D. Woods and many others showed up for the festivities. Rihanna, pictured to your right, wowed the paparazzi with her red carpet outfit, and then later wowed the VMA audience with her performance of Disturbia, and Live Your Life, which she collaborates on with rapper T.I. Rihanna didn’t take home any awards this year, but Erykah Badu’s Honey video did win for Best Video Direction. The 2008 Urban BMI Awards were handed out last night and Toccara Jones, Melanie Brown and Elise Neal, were just a few of the Brown Sistas on hand to show their support for the world of R n’ B music. Singer Keri Hilson performed for the crowd but it was Beyonce who walked away with the big award of the evening, winning Song of the Year honors for her hit single, Irreplaceable.

Other big winners of the night included T-Pain, Kanye West and singer Ne-Yo.

The foolishness that is the male mind was honored last night in Hollywood, California as Spike TV held their 2nd Annual “Guys Choice” Awards. This is basically an awards show where the year’s most hotly debated rivalries from the world of sports, comedy, film, internet and more go up against one another mano a mano with original categories that embody everything that matters in “guydom”. Naturally this includes hot women and of course actress Meagan Good was on the guest list.

Spice Girl Melanie Brown has landed a new modeling contract with the British lingerie company, Ultimo. Melanie recently shot a photo shoot in Beverly Hills for the company and credited her new slimmer figure to the grueling rigors of the recent Spice Girls Tour, as well as her recent stint on the American version of Dancing With The Stars.
