Monica Takes the #SoGoneChallenge
As previously reported, singer Monica has returned to the studio to record the follow-up to her 2015 album Code Red. The singer’s next project will be produced by Missy Elliott, who along with Monica, took time off from recording to participate in the So Gone Challenge, a hashtag that took off on social media that features people rapping over the beat to Monica’s 2003 Missy-produced single So Gone.
While the roll-out for Monica’s newly released Code Red album was not always smooth, it will continue according to a post made via the singer’s Instagram page.
According to Monica, a new single, video and documentary will all be forthcoming in the new year. “Presenting your body of work to your supporters is a marathon not a sprint,” Monica wrote. “ We’re just getting started. We worked my first album for almost three years.”
With her Code Red album set to be released next month, singer Monica probably figured now was as good a time as any to release the video for her single Just Right for Me. The mid-tempo track was originally unveiled back in May, and features an appearance by rapper Lil Wayne.
Why its taken nearly six months for the video to be released is anyone’s guess. However, with the singer’s tour set to kick off on November 12th, one can’t help but appreciate the timing.
Brandy is just one of several celebs making waves this week via their Instagram page. The 36-year old Zoe Ever After star has been posting images of herself reportedly set to appear in Renny Vasquez’s first coffee table book.
Renny is a celebrity make-up artist, currently on tour with fellow celebrity make-up artist Sam Fine. Both have worked their magic on countless celebs, and are reportedly in talks to star in their own reality show.
With a new album to support, Monica has announced the first round of dates for her upcoming Code Red Experience Tour with writer-producer Rico Love.
The 22-city trek kicks off in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 11th and wraps up on December 13th at The Gramercy Theatre in New York City.
Monica is expected to release Code Red, her eighth studio album, either this year or early 2016. The album’s first single, Just Right for Me, was released in May and features an assist from rapper Lil Wayne.
Monica’s Code Red album cover has finally been unveiled. The R&B singer used her Instagram account earlier today to show off the dramatic image, which was lensed by her longtime collaborator, Atlanta-based photographer Derek Blanks.
Code Red will be Monica’s eighth studio album, and is expected to be released later this year, though no official date has been announced. The album’s first single, the Lil Wayne assisted Just Right for Me, was released back in May and debuted at a respectable #50 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.
