Mya: Shake It Like A Dog

Mya An unreleased track from one of Mya’s many ill-fated past albums has surfaced an according to Palow da Don, the track’s producer, the song is a hit and should have been released. Not being a Mya fan myself I didn’t hold out much hope the song would actually be good, but after listening to it I must agree with Palow. I cannot say whether this song would resuscitate Mya’s career or not, but it definitely is catchy- in a freaky, sexual over the top kind of way. It’s so over the top in my opinion that radio stations may not pick it. Still, it is hot and Mya’s vocals really make the song pop. Suprisingly, the background vocals are very Amerie-ish, so Amerie-ish, I think it may actually be her. Give the song a listen for yourself here and lemme know what you think.

Next Generation Divas

Mya VH-1 celebrated the ten year anniversary of the Save Music Foundation at the Lincoln Center in New York City and singers Mariah Carey and Mya were on hand to celebrate the occasion. VH-1 aired it’s first Diva’s Live concert in support of the foundation back in 1990 and it was a spectacular event, featuring amazing performances by Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Celine Dion, and many others. Diva’s Live became the premiere event for female singers to perform at and for about the first 3 or 4 years I remember watching it religiously. I even picked up the CD from the second year that featured an amazing duet between Mary J. Blige and Whitney Houston. Sadly, after about the 4th year, the lack of female singers who could actually sing, caused ratings to dip and the show to eventually change it’s name.

It’s About To Be A Girl Fight !

2007 is shaping up to be the year of the comeback diva and Mary J. Blige has officially thrown her hat into the ring. Mary’s new CD, Growing Pains, is due to hit record store shelves on November 20th, the same day as Mariah Carey and Foxy Brown. To make things even more interesting, the week before, November 13th, will see Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, and Celine Dion go head to head for the number one position, as their new CD’s will drop on the same day as well. As you all know CD release dates are subject change at any time (just ask Mya), but I don’t think any of the above artists, not even Foxy, will have their release dates moved forward or pushed back.

Fashion Rocks will air tonight on CBS so don’t forget to check out the performances, but for now, we have plenty of pics to share with you. To your right we have Mary and Usher, who left his new bride, to perform at the show. I have no idea what they sang but I am anxious to see their performance, as I am curious as to whether Usher can vocally hang with Mary.
