Teyana Taylor to Star in Netflix’s ‘The After Party’
Teyana Taylor continues to add to her acting resume. The multi-faceted entertainer has landed another role, this time in the upcoming Netflix film The After Party. The coming-of-age drama is the first scripted project from Live Nation Productions and will reportedly revolve around two friends who make a last-ditch effort to score a record deal before one heads off to college and the other to the military.
Simone Missick to Reprise Misty Knight Role
If you guys binge-watched all 13 episodes of the original Netflix drama Luke Cage– then you no doubt know Simone Missick’s portrayal of Misty Knight was the best thing about the series. Sure Mike Coulter was easy on the eyes and Mahershala Ali’s gritty take on Cornell Stokes gave us New Jack City flashbacks- but it was Simone’s Misty Knight that added just the right amount of vulnerability to counteract the show’s over the top testosterone-fueled bravado.
‘She’s Gotta Have It’ Remake Should Totally Star Nicole Beharie
Netflix has given the go ahead to the long-delayed remake of Spike Lee’s 1986 cult classic She’s Gotta Have It. According to published reports, the streaming channel has put in a 10-episode order, which they hope to have ready for a fall 2017 debut. Lee will direct all 10 episodes, while his wife, who Lee says came up with the idea to turn the film into a series, will act as executive producer.
Jennifer Hudson to Star in Netflix Comedy Sandy Wexler
Jennifer Hudson has been cast to star alongside comedian Adam Sandler in the upcoming Netflix film, Sandy Wexler. The Academy Award-winning singer and actress will once again get to showcase her beautiful voice, playing the character of Courtney Clarke, a singer who catches the eye of Wexler (Sandler), a bumbling Hollywood agent who manages a group of eccentric clients.
Hulu is finally getting some much needed colour.
The streaming service has reportedly picked up a new pilot starring Regina Hall titled Crushed. The comedy series is produced by “Peeples” director Tina Gordon Chism and reportedly tells the story of a fictional African American family that moves to Napa after they inherit a successful wine business.
Keri Hilson and Netflix May Be Working on a New Project Together
Keri Hilson and Netflix are apparently teaming up for some sort of project. Keri posted a photo of herself at Netflix’s offices in New York recently, with the caption “Wait, what?!” and a smiley face with the symbol of a clapboard.
I’m sure Keri can’t divulge all the details just yet, but it’s obvious she’s alluding to the taping of something- possibly an appearance in one of Netflix’s many original programs.
