Fox Cancels Sleepy Hollow
While Fox was busy canceling the longstanding catastrophe known as Sleepy Hollow, its former leading lady, actress Nicole Beharie, was spotted out shaking her groove thang at Naturi Naughton’s baby shower. As I’m sure you’ve all heard by now, Fox finally took out the trash, canceling the sci-fi drama just one season after it unceremoniously killed off the national treasure we all know as Grace Abigail Mills.
Nicole Beharie Joins AfroPop Lineup
Given the return of Sleepy Hollow and its abysmal showing in the ratings, I thought now would be the perfect time to talk about the show’s former leading lady, Nicole Beharie, and what she’s been up to since leaving the supernatural sinking ship behind.
‘She’s Gotta Have It’ Remake Should Totally Star Nicole Beharie
Netflix has given the go ahead to the long-delayed remake of Spike Lee’s 1986 cult classic She’s Gotta Have It. According to published reports, the streaming channel has put in a 10-episode order, which they hope to have ready for a fall 2017 debut. Lee will direct all 10 episodes, while his wife, who Lee says came up with the idea to turn the film into a series, will act as executive producer.

Sleepy Hollow Ratings Remain Steady Thanks to Nicole Beharie
Since its move to Friday nights three weeks ago, Sleepy Hollow’s ratings have remained consistent. Low, but consistent. The show seems to be hovering around the 2.9 to 3 million viewers range, and the 0.7 to 0.8 demo range. Now, if they can get their demo up, Sleepy might actually stand a chance of getting a fourth season, something many of its fans are obviously rooting for. Continue Reading
So, in its second week of airing on Friday nights at 8pm, Sleepy Hollow
managed to both rise and fall in the ratings. The good news, more people watched- 100,000 more to be exact. The bad news, its demo slipped from an anemic 0.9 to an even more anemic 0.7. And for those of you who don’t know, it is the demo that counts. So while, yes, more people watched, it wasn’t the desired demographic of 18-49 year olds that advertisers and networks covet.
Sleepy Hollow Finds its Sweet Spot on Friday Nights
While reviews for last night’s winter premiere of Sleepy Hollow vary wildly, one thing not in dispute is the love fans still have for the show. It was the show’s first airing in its new Friday night 8 pm time slot. It was widely believed the show would fail on Friday nights, however, I always believed less competition could be a good thing for the struggling drama.
