The After Party With Mr. & Mrs. Carter

Actress Joy Bryant and eighties rap superstar Sandra “Pepa” Denton were just two of the celebrity friends who came out for the Heart Of The City after party at Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club in New York City. In their first public appearance together since getting married last month, both Bey and Jay walked the red carpet for the paparazzi but did so separately. They did however pose together inside of the club with actress Joy Bryant and other club goers.

Salt n’ Pepa Show Promo Pics

Salt n’ Pepa With the Salt n’ Pepa show just weeks away, VH-1 has released publicity shots of rap music’s original Spice Girls, and I swear looking at these two sistas brings back so many memories for me of growing up in the Bronx. Salt n’ Pepa were to my generation what The Supremes were to my mom’s generation. Yes- it is just that deep. Every Black girl growing up in the NYC wanted to look and dress like S n’ P. The biker shorts and leather jackets, the blond asymetrical hairstyle- you name it- whatever they did- we copied it. I just knew I was Pepa and my girlfriend from upstairs was Salt (lol) .

Clip Of Salt n’ Pepa’s New Reality Series

Pepa, Salt & Spinderella As previously reported, the best darn thing to come outta the 80’s since Janet Jackson’s Control album, my girls Salt n’ Pepa, have signed on to do a reality series with VH-1. Since Salt walked away from the group in the late 90’s, she has married, had two children and found God. Pepa on the other hand is supposedly still a wild child trying to relive the heyday of the group’s popularity, and that apparently is the premise of the show. Pepa wants Salt to come back to performing, while Salt is weary of doing anything that she thinks is contrary to the spiritual person she is today. The show is due to air October 15th. and VH-1 has released about a five minute promo of the premiere episode.

Where Are The Female Rappers?

Salt n' Pepa Eve: The Last Female Rapper. Was I dream-ing? Nope. That’s what the promotional flier said. How could that be? How could rap music, an art form that isn’t even 40 years old yet, end up with only one female MC left? Well to be honest- the producers of these fliers were taking great liberties by calling Eve the last female rapper. She isn’t so much the last as she is the only one that hasn’t released an album lately that flopped. Eve has been MIA from the rap scene for a while now, but if my memory serves me correctly- her last album didn’t exactly set the world on fire. Still, the idea that Eve was the last female MC left got me to wondering where exactly did all the female rappers go?
