Queen Latifah Says ‘Living Single’ Remake is in the Works

A Living Single remake is reportedly being considered, according to the show’s former co-star and producer, Queen Latifah. While appearing on Thursday night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, Queen told host, Andy Cohen, the idea of reviving the show is something she’s been “working on,” but that “it’s not quite there yet.” The Star actress went on to say that should the show return to air, she’d like to do it with the original cast, which included, Kim Fields, Kim Coles, and Erika Alexander.

Trailer: HBO’s ‘Bessie’ Starring Queen Latifah

HBO pictures has released the first full length trailer for their upcoming Bessie Smith biopic, starring rapper/actress/talk show host, Queen Latifah.

“Bessie” will air May 16 and chronicle the singer’s Vaudeville beginnings, as well as her ascent, and eventual descent, to and from the heights of musical stardom.

The star-studded cast, which also includes Tika Sumpter, Michael K. Smith as Bessie’s husband, Oliver Pratt, Mikes Epps, Charles S. Dutton and Mo’Nique as blues legend Ma Rainey, are expected to appear at a press event next week to talk about the film, which HBO had previously sought to bring to the small screen almost a decade ago.

Queen Latifah Eyes Daytime Talk Show

Rapper turned actress, turned all around business woman, Queen Latifah, is reportedly heading to daytime television.

The Queen’s Flavor Unit and Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment announced Monday morning that the two camps will be entering into a partnership with Sony Pictures Television to produce a new syndicated talk show that will feature Latifah as the host.

Slated for a 2013 debut, the show will enter a now crowded daytime landscape that will likely include newbies Katie Couric, Jeff Probst and even comedian Steve Harvey.

The deal was reportedly spearheaded by Flavor Unit co-founder Shakim Compere and Overbrook executive Miguel Melendez. Both men will serve as executive producers alongside Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and Latifah herself.

According to a joint statement released by Will, Jada and Latifah, the trio had been looking for a project to work on together since the mid nineties when Latifah starred with Will on his ‘Fresh Prince of Bel Air’ series and co-starred alongside Jada in their urban classic ‘Set it Off.’

Queen Latifah has teamed up with Missy Elliott for the release of her newest single/video entitled “Fast Car.” The track is the second single off of the Queen’s seventh studio album “Persona.” Produced by longtime collaborators Cool & Dre, Fast Car features a new sound for Latifah, but one that is definitely worth a listen.

Queen Latifah Queen Latifah is covering the latest edition of Essence Magazine. Gracing the July cover and being more candid than she ever has before, the Queen tells the magazine that she was sexually abused as a child and only recently came to grips with the experience. Queen says in the interview, “He violated me. I never told anybody. I just buried it as deeply as I could and kept people at an arms length.” She says it affected her so strongly, and even altered her relationships in her adult life. Queen continues in the interview, “I never really let a person get too close to me. I could have been married years ago, but I had a commitment issue.”

Brown Sista At The 2009 Academy Awards

Viola Davis & Taraji P. Henson The 81st Annual Academy Awards were held last night at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. Brown Sistas Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson were both nominees in the Best Supporting Actress category- but lost out early on to actress Penelope Cruz. Ordinarily I would have turned after that, but chose to stay tune to catch performances by Beyonce and Queen Latifah. Beyonce performed a medley of musical hits with host Hugh Jackman, while Queen Latifah paid tribute in song to actors who passed away in 2008.
