Queen Latifah Says ‘Living Single’ Remake is in the Works
A Living Single remake is reportedly being considered, according to the show’s former co-star and producer, Queen Latifah. While appearing on Thursday night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live, Queen told host, Andy Cohen, the idea of reviving the show is something she’s been “working on,” but that “it’s not quite there yet.” The Star actress went on to say that should the show return to air, she’d like to do it with the original cast, which included, Kim Fields, Kim Coles, and Erika Alexander.
Queen Latifah is covering the latest edition of Essence Magazine. Gracing the July cover and being more candid than she ever has before, the Queen tells the magazine that she was sexually abused as a child and only recently came to grips with the experience. Queen says in the interview, “He violated me. I never told anybody. I just buried it as deeply as I could and kept people at an arms length.” She says it affected her so strongly, and even altered her relationships in her adult life. Queen continues in the interview, “I never really let a person get too close to me. I could have been married years ago, but I had a commitment issue.”
The 81st Annual Academy Awards were held last night at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California. Brown Sistas Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson were both nominees in the Best Supporting Actress category- but lost out early on to actress Penelope Cruz. Ordinarily I would have turned after that, but chose to stay tune to catch performances by Beyonce and Queen Latifah. Beyonce performed a medley of musical hits with host Hugh Jackman, while Queen Latifah paid tribute in song to actors who passed away in 2008.
