I’m Team Robin Givens

Who do you think should take over the role of Valerie ‘Val’ Stokes on VH1’s hit series ‘Singles Ladies?’

Though many names have been thrown around, only one actress in my book can single handedly pull off the role AND add a new dynamic to the character’s somewhat lackluster personality.

And though the actress I have in mind may not seem like the most obvious choice, I think if you are familiar enough with her work, then you know she can easily pull off the role of Val, AND add an extra bit of spice that I believe the character needs.

So who am I talking about, you ask? Well, the one and only Robin Givens, of course.

Robin has long been one of Hollywood’s most underrated black actresses. Despite that, however, she has still managed to show amazing depth in the roles she has taken on, and at a healthy 46-years of age, she still has a killer face and body to match.

I can totally see Robin in this role and hope that whoever casts the role of Val, looks outside the typical names that are being thrown around at the moment.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Actress Robin Givens was joined by Judge Jeanine Pirro at Marshall’s annual event to promote Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Judge Pirro has long been an advocate for women’s rights and Robin, as many of you might know, was married to boxer Mike Tyson whom the actress said abused her during their short lived marriage. Robin also wrote a book about it “Grace Will Lead You Home”, which was released back in 2007.

Preview Tonight’s Episode Of The Game

Hoping to get more publicity for their celebrity marriage, Robin Givens and Malik plan a belated wedding reception, but Tasha decides to boycott the party since she believes their marriage is a sham and won’t support it. At the reception, Derwin and Melanie must face the reality of their complicated relationship after many people mistakenly congratulate Melanie on her pregnancy. Meanwhile, Rick Fox reluctantly introduces Tasha to his overly protective mother, causing fireworks to ensue between the two headstrong women. Additional guest stars include New Orleans Hornets’ Chris Paul and actors Tisha Campbell-Martin and Duane Martin who all play themselves in the episode.

Sanaa Celebrates The Pink Curve+Preps New Film

Sanaa Lathan Sanaa Lathan, who stars in Tyler Perry’s new movie “The Family That Preys”, was seen earlier this week attending the launch of Verizon’s new pink Black Berry 8330. The actress, who turns 37 in a few short weeks, is also gracing the cover of next week’s edition of Jet Magazine, along with fellow “Preys” cast mate, Taraji P. Henson. Tyler Perry’s latest movie is shaping up to be quite interesting. Along with a stellar cast that includes Lathan and Henson, actresses Robin Givens and Alfre Woodard are also on board for what appears to be this fall’s must see movie. I had no idea what to expect of this movie when I first heard about it last year; however, after seeing several trailers for the film, I have no doubt this will be Tyler’s best work to date. Sanaa is playing a character we haven’t seen her tackle before and Robin Givens, who is making her way back into Hollywood, looks to have a very juicy role as well.
