Can You Imagine Jill Scott as Olivia Pope?
With the 100th episode of Scandal set to air this Thursday, cast and crew were recently brought together by the Hollywood Reporter to discuss what it took to bring the controversial political drama to network television. It was of course no shock to hear ABC wanted the part of Olivia Pope to be played by a white woman, despite the character being inspired by real-life African American political fixer Judy Smith. What was a bit shocking, however, were some of the names being thrown about to play Olivia once the network agreed to the casting of a black woman.
Olivia and the team are determined to bring down Peus, but as the Electoral College vote nears, the fight for power claims another victim.
‘Scandal’ Returns with ‘Survival of the Fittest’
With season six of Scandal set to air January 26th, ABC has decided now is the time to start dropping a bit of promo for the highly-anticipated season opener, which finds Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) with her hands full dealing with the outcome of the presidential election between Mellie Grant and Francisco Vargas.
Scandal Returns with New Episode ‘It’s Hard Out Here for a General’
Rise and shine Scandal fans, your show is set to return in less than two weeks. Via ABC, the winter premiere will take place February 11th, and apparently a lot has happened since the fall finale. As we all know, Olivia and Fitz broke up again, and in the six months since we last saw the pair, things have changed dramatically.
Will Olivia Carolyn Pope and Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III get married? That’s the big question on tomorrow night’s episode of Scandal, titled Get Out of Jail, Free.
Cyrus is back on the scene and presents Olivia and Fitz with a shocking plan that just might make all their troubles go away.
I’m sorry, I just couldn’t help myself. This newly released Olitz poster from season five of Scandal was just begging for a caption.
I continue to be semi jealous of Scandal fans, because even though it’s taken nearly five years for Olitz to become canon, at least you guys have writers who are willing to acknowledge that your ship is the backbone of the show.
Considering how many promo videos have been released in support of Scandal’s upcoming season, it’s hard to imagine this one is being billed by ABC as the official season five trailer. Compared to some of the other Olitz-themed videos, this one is relatively tame, and lasts a mere thirty seconds.
Like all Scandal trailers, this one is heavy on Olitz and even heavier on the drama. We get lots of sexy scenes of our favorite political couple rolling around in the hay. As well as the one thing I’m sure the couple’s fans have been waiting for since season one: the apparent dissolution of Fitz’s marriage to Mellie.
