‘Single Ladies’ is Back on the Market

VH1 CANCELS SINGLE LADIES

After three seasons VH1 has decided not to put a ring on it.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the network has decided to cancel “Single Ladies,” their first scripted series, for reasons unknown.

When the show first aired back in 2011, it was an instant hit for the network, drawing an average two million viewers per episode.

However, the show was rocked while on hiatus when its lead actress, Stacey Dash, was suddenly dropped. Season two was just as drama filled, with the show’s creator Stacey A. Littlejohn also jumping ship.

On the Set: Eve & LisaRaye

Raptress Eve posted the photo to your left via her Twitter page yesterday, simply saying “Fun times on the set of ‘Single Ladies’ in ATL, getting ready to shoot a scene with LisaRaye.”

The image is of course of Eve, alongside LisaRaye and newcomer Denise Vasi, who replaced original cast member Stacey Dash after the first season.

Rumor has it VH1 will really be digging in their celebrity vault for season two, hoping to keep fans coming back after the untimely replacement of the show’s main character.

Besides Eve, season two is also expected to feature guest appearances by Meagan Good, Tatyana Ali, Lil Kim and Tyrese.

I’m Team Robin Givens

Who do you think should take over the role of Valerie ‘Val’ Stokes on VH1’s hit series ‘Singles Ladies?’

Though many names have been thrown around, only one actress in my book can single handedly pull off the role AND add a new dynamic to the character’s somewhat lackluster personality.

And though the actress I have in mind may not seem like the most obvious choice, I think if you are familiar enough with her work, then you know she can easily pull off the role of Val, AND add an extra bit of spice that I believe the character needs.

So who am I talking about, you ask? Well, the one and only Robin Givens, of course.

Robin has long been one of Hollywood’s most underrated black actresses. Despite that, however, she has still managed to show amazing depth in the roles she has taken on, and at a healthy 46-years of age, she still has a killer face and body to match.

I can totally see Robin in this role and hope that whoever casts the role of Val, looks outside the typical names that are being thrown around at the moment.

More ‘Single Ladies’ Casting Rumors

With Stacey Dash’s role as Valerie Stokes on VH1’s ‘Single Ladies’ officially up for grabs by every black actress in Hollywood, is there any wonder rumors of those possibly ready to take her place are flying left and right.

Last week I posted news of 41-year old actress Elise Neal possibly taking over the role; and now this week we have news that 30-year old actress Meagan Good may have officially been offered the part.

Meagan, known primarily for her roles on the big screen (Eve’s Bayou, Stomp the Yard, Jumping the Broom), has also dabbled in a bit of television over the years, most recently wrapping up a stint on BET’s revamped version of ‘The Game.’

No official word has come down from VH1, Queen Latifah (Executive Producer) or the show’s head writer, Stacy Littlejohn. However, if rumor that the actress hired must have the ability to pull off Valerie’s now epic wardrobe are true, we think Meagan may just have this role in the bag.

Beyonce Pushes Back Release Date Of New Singles

Similar to Britney Spears, Beyonce Knowles reportedly decides to push back new songs from her upcoming album. “If I Were a Boy” and “Single Ladies” were planned to hit the airplay on October 7 but it will not come out until October 14. While Britney reportedly resets her “Womanizer” release schedule due to unfinished material, Beyonce is rumored to have decided to delay her new songs because her former band mate Michelle Williams is reportedly unhappy to drop her “Unexpected” LP on the same release date of the two Beyonce’s tunes. No statement is available from the two singers concerning the gossip.
