Solange Debuts Videos for ‘Don’t Touch My Hair’ and ‘Cranes in the Sky’
Solange has debuted two videos from her critically acclaimed new album Seat at the Table. According to early industry estimates, the project could become the singer’s first number album if it manages to outsell Bon Iver’s new opus 22, A Million.
Solange is once again coming to the rescue of her older and more famous sister Beyonce. The outspoken singer, writer and producer in her own right, took to Twitter recently to try and explain why her sister didn’t let the world know earlier what she had done with the money she made for performing at a private party held by the Gaddafi family back in 2009.
According to Solo, their mother, Tina Knowles, taught them to give quietly, just as the Bible states.

Who knew Solange had this type of soul in her? I sure didn’t. The singer, who recently parted from her record label, has been quiet for a while- but now she is back with a sound that in my opinion suits her a lot more than those Amy Whinehouse 1960 knock-offs she recorded on her last album. Solange has gone all sexy on us and recorded “Stillness Is The Move”- a tune originally recorded by Indie Rock band Dirty Projectors. You’ll also hear a sample of Erykah Badu’s “Bag Lady” in the background, which really gives the song it’s pop.
Check out Solange’s version above and click “Dirty Projectors” up top to listen to their version. Honestly, you will wonder how Solange turned such a simple sounding song into this soulful R n’ B masterpiece.
Solange is covering the latest digital edition of Honey Magazine. The singer shot a fabulous fashion spread for the mag and gave a great interview where she spoke openly about her music, her personal life and the backlash she experienced when she abruptly cut her hair earlier this years.
On her [supposed] relationship with Wale
“Wale is definitely not my boyfriend.”
On who she would like to work with musically in the future
“I would love to work with Pharell or Kanye West because I think they’re incredibly talented. They could probably go as left as they want to and I would be that artist that would say, I don’t care.”
On why she decided to cut off her hair
“I was pretty much at the point where I needed the change and I needed to focus my energy on more productive arenas. I was putting too much into my appearance and I needed to make this about growth and going to the next stage of my life.”

Solange has been busy these past few days singing, dancing, and attending some of NY Fashion Week’s best shows. She first attended the 6th Annual Woman’s Day Red Dress Awards at the Allen Room at Lincoln Center in NYC on Wednesday night. There, she walked the red carpet with Editor in Chief of Womans Day Magazine, Jane Chesnutte, and gal pal Adrienne Bailon of The Cheetah Girls. Both singers looked fab — Solange in a flirty ruffled strapless red mini-dress, and Valentino Satin Pearl Sandals; Adrienne in a BCBG Max Azria LBD, and patent leather YSL Tribute Two Pumps.
Last night definitely had it’s series of unfortunate events (never thought I’d ever say that!), in Hollywood-Land. First ‘Swagger Like Us’ singer M.I.A. was set to perform, despite her pregnancy due date being on the same night. Then, we hear of Usher’s decision to skip the award show, because of his wife’s plastic surgery mishap in Brazil. But, the worst of all was when we found out Rihanna, fashionista extraordinaire, was skipping out also. So, since she decided to not to show, we’re one brown sista short on this best dressed list — ‘cuz you already know she was was gonna be one of the best!
