Though Toni Braxton’s stint on Dancing With The Stars was short lived, the singer isn’t licking her wounds. Instead, Toni is said to be returning to the music scene in 2009. The soulful diva, who set the world of R n’ B music on fire with her throaty vocals during the 1990s, is back with a new attitude, new record label (Atlantic), and a brand new song that is said to be a leak from her upcoming album. Melt (Like An Iceberg) is said to be a remake of a Claude Kelly classic and produced this time around by Harvey Mason and Damon Thaoms, the duo who also worked with Toni on her Libra CD. Other producers said to be tagging along include Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins (Brandy, Beyonce) and Evan “Kidd” Bogart (Christina Milian, Britney Spears).

Singer Estelle dominated the MOBO Awards last night taking home the award for Best UK Female and Best Song, beating out fellow Brit hit maker Leona Lewis. The MOBO Awards (Music Of Black Origin) are the British in origin, but are voted for by the public and thus reprsent general listening trends in the UK’s Black community. “The Mobo is a great award, recognised by the kids and the people who understand my music, and who get the music that we do,” Estelle told BBC news. Other winners of the evening included Leona Lewis and former Supremes singer, Mary Wilson, who was awarded The Lifetime Achievement Award and performed a medley of Supremes hits with British girl group The Sugarbabes.

After having her Vegas show prematurely cancelled due to health concerns, singer Toni Braxton is back in the spotlight as a contestant on the seventh season of Dancing With The Stars. Toni was paired up with season one winner Alec Mazo and they danced the cha-cha. I can tell you that while watching Toni’s performance I was totally holding my breath but the sista completely aced her routine and seemed like a natural. Toni’s body rivals that of professional female dancers and she sashayed across the dance floor like it was second nature to her. The judges thought pretty highly of Toni’s routine as well and gave the singer a 22 out of a possible 30.

Singer Toni Braxton was spotted last night by the paparazzi heading to Mr Chow’s restaurant after having taken in The BET Awards on the low. The singer, whose Las Vegas act was recently cancelled due to health concerns, looked fit and in good spirits. Toni hadn’t been seen out in public in months, leaving many to speculate that her condition was possibly grave. Glad to see whatever was ailing Toni has been taking care and let’s hope she stays well.

The Las Vegas hotel where Toni Braxton has been performing since 2006 has announced that the rest of the singer’s scheduled shows have been canceled so that she can focus on her health. The show, “Toni Braxton: Revealed,” at the Flamingo Las Vegas had been vacant since the entertainer was hospitalized on April 7th with what hotel officials said at the time was a complaint of chest pain. The show had been scheduled to resume on June 6th. Harrah’s Entertainment spokeswoman Deanna Petit says she could not comment on the singer’s current medical condition. Toni had been treated in the past for pericarditis, a viral inflammation of the heart. Braxton is a six-time Grammy winner for songs including “Un-break My Heart.” Her two-year run at the Flamingo Las Vegas hotel had originally been scheduled to end in August of this year.

Las Vegas strip headliner Toni Braxton has been admitted to a local area hospital. Toni was admitted to St. Rose Dominican Hospital sometime after her show Monday night at the Flamingo. Hospital officials would not give out particulars about her condition but did say said she was resting comfortably. It is not clear why she is in the hospital, but Braxton does have a heart condition called pericarditis, an inflammation of the sac surrounding the heart. She found out about the condition after the birth of her second son. Toni is also the spokeswoman for the American Heart Association.

When Mariah Carey was having a musical drought, LA Reid took her under his wing and Mariah’s next CD, The Emancipation Of Mimi, became a smash hit, selling 4 million copies and re-establishing Mariah as a musical force to be reckoned with. Next up for LA is Janet Jackson, who has also fallen into a musical slump over the last few years. “Feedback” was hand picked by LA to help re-establish Janet’s presence on the music charts and fans and critics alike are loving the new single. So seeing as how LA apparently has the magic touch when it comes to resurrecting divas of old- can someone please get him Toni Braxton’s number. LA and Babyface first signed Toni to LaFace Records back in 1990 so the brotha is already familiar with the sista’s talents. Besides En Vogue, I cannot think of another artist more deserving of a career resurrection than Toni Braxton.
