Miami rapper, Trina, recently introduced her clothing like “Pink Diamonds” and launched the website, Shoptrina.com, as well. Pink Diamonds will consist of jeans, t-shirts and jackets that will all carry her signature logo. To add a personal touch the Trina is said to have emblazoned a tattoo on each article of clothing that is unique to the rapper herself. She also paid extra attention to the fit, making sure all her jeans would be comfortable for women with more shapely derrières. “I have always imagined a clothing line that was high quality that I could offer to my fans,” said the rapper in a statement. “I love the way the jeans fit and feel. I spent a lot of time creating special details that are fresh and unique. The best part they look really expensive but are priced right.” The Pink Diamond Couture clothing collection is set to debut nationwide in the spring.

Rapper Trina has a new CD dropping soon and so you know what that means- promotion, promotion, promotion. And whereas promotion for some artists might mean performances and interviews- for Trina that means posing for men’s magazines. So far this year Trina has appeared in pictorials for KING Magazine, Smooth Magazine and now she is set to grace the pages of Black Men’s Magazine. Without a doubt Trina looks fabulous and has no problem showing off her newly svelte body which she says is the result of intense dieting. Trina says she dropped the extra pound using an all liquid diet she calls “The Liquid Cleanse”. Trina also adds that her weight loss was simply an attempt to “get healthy” and that she felt no pressure to conform to Hollywood standards of beauty. Look for Trina’s edition of BMM to hit news stands in March and her new CD, Still The Baddest, to drop on April 1st.

Yes, I am dead serious. Ordinarily I would never post something like this, but even I laughed when I saw this cover with Trina on it. The Miami rapper graces the February cover of Smooth Magazine, which just so happens to also be their “Black History” issue. Now I know this is Smooth- a men’s magazine, but couldn’t they have done better than this? Yes Trina is beautiful, but since this is their “Black History” issue, couldn’t they have say, put Barack Obama on the cover? I mean he is featured inside the magazine anyway- so why not get brothas minds off the booty and put it on the ballot instead. Black men now more than ever need to be politically savvy and believe it or not, magazines like Smooth and KING can help bring political awareness to brothas who may ordinarily not pay attention to such things. Booty and bling. Booty and bling. It seems that is all the owners of magazines aimed at Black men want them to think about. I wonder why that is?

You guys know I love a good makeover. I love to see a woman just totally transform herself into a whole new being. I think it’s part of being woman. Short hair today, long hair tomorrow. A good makeover truly does a body good and rapper Trina obviously feels the same way. The sista is seen in the recent issue of Ocean Drive magazine sporting a new- everything. From hair to eyes, to body- Trina has had a total bod makeover. Most noticeably however is her new slimmer figure. Trina is known for having more than a little junk in her trunk and thighs as well. For her photo shoot with the magazine however, all that junk seems to be missing, replaced with a very beautiful and toned body instead.

Eve is really working hard to promote her new CD, Here I Am, which hits record store shelves on Tuesday, August 28th. Besides performing on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series, the sista also spent the weekend hitting up all the latest parties in an attempt to keep her name and face out there. Eve’s first week sales in my opinion will speak volumes about not only her future in rap, but the future in general of women in rap music. No female rapper to my knowledge has had a hit album in the past five years- maybe more and at present time there is no female rapper out there that has the potential to rival the men in sales. Lil Kim’s career is pretty much on hold and the same can be said for Foxy Brown whose future seems filled with baby bottles rather than concert stages. That leaves Trina and Remy Ma and neither of them in my opinion has what it takes to keep the legacy of women alive in hip hop.

Eve: The Last Female Rapper. Was I dream-ing? Nope. That’s what the promotional flier said. How could that be? How could rap music, an art form that isn’t even 40 years old yet, end up with only one female MC left? Well to be honest- the producers of these fliers were taking great liberties by calling Eve the last female rapper. She isn’t so much the last as she is the only one that hasn’t released an album lately that flopped. Eve has been MIA from the rap scene for a while now, but if my memory serves me correctly- her last album didn’t exactly set the world on fire. Still, the idea that Eve was the last female MC left got me to wondering where exactly did all the female rappers go?

At the start of her recent tour, it had been nearly ten years since Toni Braxton has been in concert. She had a new album and plenty to talk about but the first thing she mentioned was how fans at her first show in Atlantic City, N.J., almost got more of her than they bargained for.
Braxton said she left the stage for a quickie costume change. But in the eight seconds allotted to swap outfits, she forgot something: her panties. She was about to head back on stage wearing just pantyhose and a top when an alert member of the stage crew caught the faux pas.
