Supermodel Tyra Banks is once again expanding her portfolio. After conquering the catwalk the beauty icon went on to conquer the world of daytime TV and eventually reality TV. Tyra is now ready to make her next move, which according to a press release is the unveiling of her new cosmetics line “Tyra Beauty.”
According to Tyra, her makeup line has been years in the making and is the reason why she went back to school in 2010 to further her education. “Do you know how good it feels to finally be able to tell the world why I attended Harvard Business School?!,” she tweeted to her fans. I truly learned how to master building and leading my own cosmetic experience.” read more » » » »
Thanks to Tyra’s continued success with America’s Next Top Model, Naomi was able to score her own TV modeling competition The Face, which was recently picked up for a second season and is due to start airing in Australia and the U.K. later this year.
Likewise, thanks to Tyra’s former success as a talk show host, Naomi too is rumored to have recently been offered the opportunity to host her own daytime chat fest.
On the eve of her appearance at next month’s global television conference MIPCOM, Naomi reportedly dropped the news while discussing her plans to expand The Face to more markets overseas.
“I’ve been offered several opportunities by a major U.S. network,” Naomi reportedly told the Telegraph. “Right now I am focused on expanding The Face but I’m ruling nothing out. I’ve already started doing my research.”
Rumor has it the network is Fox and that they’re looking to shore up their daytime line-up with hosts they hope can bring in a younger audience, à la The Wendy Williams Show and Tamar Braxton’s The Real.
Two years after surprising the world by enrolling in Harvard Business School, 39-year old supermodel Tyra Banks has earned her degree, graduating from the school’s prestigious Owner/President Management Program.
Though an already successful entrepreneur with several lucrative ventures under her belt, Tyra said she went back to school to better learn how to manage those businesses, as well as the multitude of opportunities that were coming her way.
So, what will the CEO of Bankable Productions do with her newfound business knowledge? Well, when being interviewed by Professor Youngme Moon earlier this month, Tyra said she wants to turn her brand into a sustainable legacy and cites Walt Disny and Virgin’s Richard Branson as her role models.
“I’m not looking to build my company based on fans,” she said. “Rather, I feel a responsibility to spread my message of empowerment, self-esteem, and beauty in a way that’s consistent with my ethos and, hopefully, favorable to my bottom line.”
If you are a frequent watcher of America’s Next Top Model then you know how much Tyra Banks loves to show off her smizing abilities. So it should come as no surprise that the video below, shot by photographer Marcus Gabb for issue No 7 of I Love You Magazine, is full of Tyra doing what she loves to do best.
Tyra is shown staring wide-eyed into the camera while screaming, scrunching her face, gesturing “I hate you” then “I love you” and finally doing some sort of weird robotic dance.
“I just told her to perform, do her thing and to stop when she felt like,” Gaab told Nowness.com, “But she didn’t stop, she kept on voguing. There was no rehearsal; she invented the whole thing while we were there.”
And while the video clearly shows Banks’ kooky side, one must not confuse the person with the persona. Nowness says “beneath the caricature Banks is a shrewd business woman,” and quotes Banks as saying, “When I was a little girl and went to Disneyland, I didn’t know that all this was from Walt Disney. That’s what I want to be. Me being behind the scenes, the business woman, creating new stars, products, projects.”
Supermodel Tyra Banks can officially add bestselling author to her ever growing list of accomplishments.
Tyra’s first book, “Modelland,” is a fictional account of a 15-year old girl who dreams of making it big as a model. Her dream soon becomes reality when she receives an invitation to Meodelland, where she quickly learns things are not quite what they appear.
Released on September 13th, “Modelland” has become a hit with the teen audience, debuting at #2 on the New York Times Best Sellers list, #1 on Barnes & Noble and #2 on Amazon.
There is also word that Tyra is looking to bring Modelland to the big screen via her own Bankable Productions.
