Model and budding mogul, Tyra Banks, has scored a major coup by landing the June 1st. cover of The New York Times Magazine. The talk show host describes herself in the feature as a mixture of Oprah Winfrey with a side of Martha Stewart thrown in. NYT staff writer says of Tyra: “Her brand, like her trademark ‘tough but still smiling’ smile, is consistent in all her shows: serious about the frivolous; empathetic and empowering, and always, always aimed at young women, across all races. It’s girly TV with a punch”.

Model and entrepreneur, Tyra Banks, who is pictured to your right attending the CW Network’s annual Upfront event, has had her new reality show, Stylista, picked up for the fall season by the network. The new series will be a “Devil Wears Prada”-esque competition show that allows 11 ambitious assistants to taste what it’s like to have heavy responsibilities at Elle magazine by helping its fashion news director Anne Slowey. The winner will get the editorial position at Elle, a paid lease on a Manhattan apartment and a clothing allowance at H&M for a year. Look for Stylista to debut this fall as part of the CW’s Wednesday night line-up.

Talk show hostess Tyra Banks took advantage of the mild New York weather yesterday and taped her show live on the street in Union Square. Tyra and her audience were celebrating the 500th episode of The Tyra Banks Show, which you have to admit, is a pretty amazing feat. I remember the first time I saw this show and I surely did not think it would work. However, after a bit of tweaking and an emphasis on celebrity interviews, The Tyra Show has bounced back in the ratings and even garnered Tyra her first Emmy nomination. Kudos to Tyra and her Bankable Productions.

Okay, I know the title of this post is totally inappropriate, but it was the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw these pics of Tyra and Janet together. Tyra is known for touching her guests in a special way and it appears she was touching the hell outta Janet in these pics (lol). But seriously, I think Janet was showing Tyra some of her moves and well Tyra then tried to show Janet some of hers. Okay, I need to stop. But for real for real this time. A Janet fan who attended the taping said Janet was trying to teach Tyra some moves from the Feedback video and they fell. Still, Tyra does seem to be enjoying the fall just a little too much. As for Janet- she’s looking absolutely amazing in these pics and I love her new glammed up look. It’s a vast improvement from the tomboy-ish boy look she sported earlier this week on GMA and TRL.

The 10th season of America’s Next Top Model starts tonight and Tyra Banks appeared on the CW Mornning Show to talk about what the new season has in store. Besides moving to New York Tyra says fans should expect more complicated challenges and of course a lot more drama. Tyra Banks is gracing the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly and the magazine has graciously crowned her “America’s Next Top Mogul”. Yeah, I know that’s corny- but with two hit television shows and another possibly on the way- EW may be on to something. Tyra’s latest venture, A “Devil Wears Prada” type reality show, gives assistants a chance to possibly run a fashion magazine on their own. In each episode, the contestants will take on individual and a team challenges- which will involve creating a page for a mockup of the proposed magazine. The losing team’s page will be dumped, and one member will be eliminated with the winning team’s page included in “The Book.” The winner of the show will land a job in the fashion industry and possibly become assistant editors at a “real” fashion magazine.

With all the Superbowl hoopla going on I almost forgot that Fashion Week in New York City’s Bryany Park was in full swing. Every February designer’s from around the globe converge on the city to showcase their fall fashion collections. One of the most popular showings is Kimora Lee Simmons’ Baby Phat line, which is alaways heavily attended by celebrity sistas. This year was no different as Tyra Banks, Vivica Fox, and Amerie were just a few of the ladies who showed up to see what Baby Phat had to offer for the Fall of 2008.

For Cycle 10 of her hit show “America’s Next Top Model”, Tyra Banks makes the move to New York and a sneak peak of the new commercial advertising the new season, which starts February 20th, can be seen below.
