How Are You Doing… Really?

Ever run into someone or just pass by folks and they ask “How ya doing?” But you know they don’t really care cause they don’t even stop to wait for your answer? Well, in the spirit of mushiness and just because I haven’t much felt like posting celebrity news lately, I take this moment to ask each and everyone of you who visits this blog daily- How are you- really?

Nia, Gabrielle & Sanaa Cover Essence

Nia-Sanaa-Gabrielle My three favorite actresses, Sanaa Lathan, Nia Long, and Gabrielle Union will all grace the December cover of Essence Magazine. The three sistas come together to talk about men, the lack of quality roles for Black women in Hollywood, and their dislike of gossip blogs- especially those run by Black women. Gabrielle Union, who has been taken to task by gossip blogs for supposedly partying too much, is especially ticked off about what is said about her and laments how painful it is to have your own community tearing you down. And now because everyone is clamoring for celebrity tidbits, the bigger gossip sites and even mainstream entities are picking up on it. No fact-checking, no nothing. And in one week’s time, there were like five different dudes, a baby—I’m a homewrecker. In literally seven days. I can’t point the finger at the White media. They don’t care about us. Paparazzi are not staked out in front of any of our houses. They are not going through our garbage because they don’t care about us in that way. So when you hear crap about us, it is coming from our own community, which hurts..

TTMT: Sistas Not Supporting Obama

Barack Obama It has been a few few weeks since I last posted a Talk Me Tuesday feature and so today I have decided to bring it back, with the direct intent of talking about Barack Obama and the media’s assertion that sistas are not supportive of him. First, let me start by saying that I do not believe the polls, and though they vary depending on who is conducting them, the overall consensus is that sistas, and brothas to a lesser degree, do not support this man of color and his Black wife. Now I call Barack a man of color and not Black, because his biracial-ness, according to the media, has caused some Black people to question his overall Blackness.

Friday’s Photo Fix

Rihanna TRL Ok you guys, you know how we do things around here every Friday. Because I get so many pics during the week that I don’t use, I throw them up here at the end of the week for you all to critique. This week’s batch of pics consists of Rihanna visiting TRL, Beyonce frolicking around in a bathing suit, a new photo shoot with Keyshia Cole, and whatever else I can fit into this post. To get things started just check out Rihanna to your right. She stopped by MTV’s TRL earlier this week to talk about her upcoming Good Girl Gone Bad World Tour which will feature Ciara as her opening act. As always Rihanna was looking fabulous and proving why she is the right choice to be the new face of an upcoming Dsquared ad campaign, or so rumor says.

Salt n’ Pepa Show Promo Pics

Salt n’ Pepa With the Salt n’ Pepa show just weeks away, VH-1 has released publicity shots of rap music’s original Spice Girls, and I swear looking at these two sistas brings back so many memories for me of growing up in the Bronx. Salt n’ Pepa were to my generation what The Supremes were to my mom’s generation. Yes- it is just that deep. Every Black girl growing up in the NYC wanted to look and dress like S n’ P. The biker shorts and leather jackets, the blond asymetrical hairstyle- you name it- whatever they did- we copied it. I just knew I was Pepa and my girlfriend from upstairs was Salt (lol) .

Rihanna In Concert, Beyonce Walks

Rihanna In Concert It was a slow weekend folks. So slow the only thing I have to report is Rihanna’s concert performance and Beyonce being photographed walking down the street. And if I can just take a second to just get real here for a moment, does anyone here ever get tired of just looking at random pics of celebrities doing such mundane things as walking down the street or eating at an outdoor cafe? Lawd knows I get tired of posting such things. I mean, how interesting can someone walking or eating be? But I digress. I am here to let you all know what your favorite celebs are up to and if that only includes them walking and eating, then I guess I had better give it to you. So we’ll kick things of with Rihanna, who performed at the Molson Theater in Toronto on Sunday night.

Rumor: Baby Dereon

Awwww, how cute! Singer Beyonce and Mama Tina are truly out to take over the world. House Of Dereon is branching out into children’s wear and you all know what that means- your baby can be bootylicious too. The new line, called Dereon Baby, is apparently due to hit stores soon, or at least that is what the scan to your right says. I did a search to get more information on this new venture but found nothing. Here is hoping the ad is authentic and not the brainchild of someone with a little too much time on their hands. Whatever the case, I think the ad is absolutely adorable and just like House Of Dereon and Dereon, Dereon Baby, will probably be a big hit too.

Ashanti Stops By 106 & Park (Updated)

Ashanti Stop By 106 & Park Singer Ashanti stopped by 106 & Park yesterday to talk about her upcoming movie, Resident Evil: Extinction, as well as her new single, Hey Baby, which has now officially been confirmed as the first single from her upcoming album, The Declaration. I listened to the single earlier today on Ashanti’s MySpace Page and honestly, I do not like it. I don’t think it is suitable as a comeback track and a comeback is excatly what Ashanti is trying to do. Her last album was released three years ago and it did not sell as well as her previous two albums. Since then the musical landscape has changed quite a bit, with singers like Beyonce, Ciara and Rihanna now occupying the throne Ashanti once shared with singers like Brandy and Monica.

Dawn Robinson: Down- But Not Out

Wow! That’s what I thought when I watched this video clip of former En Vogue member, Dawn Robinson. Dawn, as I had heard years ago, has fallen on financial hard times and is apparently sleeping on the floor of a rodent infested apartment- with her husband. Now, we have all heard this story before, singer hits it big, loses it all, blah, blah, blah. However, the fact that Dawn is living this way while married shocks me. Her husband, Dre something-or-the-other, is also an up and coming singer and one that apparently cannot take care of his wife. But I’m getting a little head of myself here. I’ll come back to Dre later. This clip I speak of, which you can see on the next page, is actually from what I was told is a reality show that the couple is shooting about their attempts to break back into the music business.

Keke Wyatt Ain’t No Soul Sista

KEKE WYATT Singer Keke Wyatt, best known for taking a knife to her husband’s throat, is back with a new album entitled Ghetto Rose and two new interviews guaranteed to get tongues wagging. AHHA first interviewed Keke who took a swipe at not only Beyonce’s vocals skills but looks as well. Keke laments If you notice, I’m yellow. My natural hair is the color she dyes her hair. I have the little waist with the big booty. It’s all the same thing but I sing better, so it was their loss. Say I don’t sing better than Beyonce? Not content with making ridiculous comments to just AHHA, Keke then took her act on the road and decided to share her brainless ideas on race, skin color and the N word with Essence Magazine writer, Kenya Byrd. You can read both the Essence and AHHA articles on the next page, but I cannot and will not be held responsible for any brain cells you might lose during the course of reading them.

Karrine Steffans: Vixen Diaries

Karrine Steffans Video vixen Karrine Steffans has sat down with Essence magazine to talk about her upcoming book, The Vixen Diaries, and as usual she holds nothing back. Among other things, Karrine touches on her relationship with her mother and why she was able to forgive certain men in her life who may have wronged her but not the woman who gave her life. I found the interview to somewhat interesting, not enough to make me buy the book, but interesting nonetheless.
