As many of you know there have been rumors circulating for a while now that this season would be the last for the show Girlfriends. Monday’s show was billed as the season finale while others believe it was the series finale. Whatever the case may be, last night’s episode was definitely one to remember. Joan finally got the proposal she had been lusting after since the show began almost eight years ago. William and Monica reunited and Maya and Darnell purchased a home and moved back to the old neighborhood.

Andrea Kelly saunters into the room with her stiletto boots clicking, her shoulder-length curls bouncing; she’s sparkling like the crystal hoops dangling from her ears. Despite her famous last name, few in the room know who she is. She’s used to that. Andrea has been ignored before, like in those posh stores near Chicago’s Gold Coast or in Los Angeles, where burly bouncers blocked her from crossing the velvet ropes—that is, until the gatekeeper found out who she was. Then it was “Oops.” Disbelief turned to immediate accommodation. And then came the apologies, “Sorry, Mrs. Kelly.” But mostly it’s, “I didn’t know he had a wife.”

What madness have Beyonce and Shakira started? Rumor has it Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming English language album will have her performing a duet with Ciara. Apparently interracial female dancing is in as I can see no other reason why these two totally opposite performers would ever come together. Though both ladies are brilliant dancers, I can’t really see sparks flying between these two as their musical and dance styles are so totally different. Still, it would be interesting to see what type of song and video they would come up with. Whatever they do it would have to be spectacular as we know the comparisons to Beyonce and Shakira would be sure to follow.

There are reports circulating that Whitney Houston and her longtime mentor Clive Davis are at odds with each other concerning the direction her new album should take. Word is Whitney wants to stick to the old way of doing things while Clive wants to bring in new people and add a possible Christina Aguilera collaboration to the mix.

Keyshia Cole is a woman of few words… but she lays it all out on the line on her reality series ‘The Way It Is,’ which premiered on BET July 12.

The six-part series chronicles the turbulent upbringing and promising career of one of today’s most promising R&B acts. Starting in her hometown of East Oakland, California, viewers discover how the hip-hop soul singer escaped the pressures of the inner city, and later returned to sell out venues and headline her own cross-country tour.

“I don’t know what they are going to get out of it,” Cole, 24, told Black Voices about the viewing audience. “I don’t know. They are going to get whatever they get. I can’t tell you. I think it’s a nice show, I do.”

On the James Dubose-helmed series, the platinum-selling artist, who topped the R&B charts with a trio of hit songs over the past year (including the Gregory Curtis-produced ballad ‘Love’), discusses her mother’s battles with drug addiction, her sister’s life as a prostitute, and her childhood spent in and out of foster care.
