Kelly Rowland To Write Children’s Book

In between promoting her new digital album and reportedly recording a third cd, singer Kelly Rowland has decided to spread her wings a bit and write a children’s novel. After performing at the VIP room this past Friday, the singer told People magazine “I’m getting into different ventures. I’m in the process of writing a children’s book. Everything is confidential right now, but I’m really excited because I’ve talked to some different publishing companies and got some people interested.” Kelly says she was inspired to write a children’s book by the presence of her five godchildren and missing her family while out on tour and doing promotional jaunts overseas.

… And I Should Care Because?

A few days ago I got an interesting e-mail from a man who says his name is Brian. Brian for some reason came to this site, used my contact form, and sent me a very lengthy e-mail explaining to me why he hates and refuses to date Black women. Brian titled his e-mail “My Confession”. Brian contacted me, a Black woman who runs a site in support of other Black women, to confess his dislike of us. Why? Why me? What made this man come to Brown Sista, see what I do and then feel his confession would be of interest to me? What exactly was Brian trying to accomplish with his e-mail and why was he trying to accomplish it with the very type of woman he claimed to despise- A Black Woman?

Mary Doing Just Fine Minus Umbrella

Mary J Blige As reported here some months ago, Rihanna’s hit single Umbrella was originally meant to be recorded by Mary J. Blige, until Rihanna says she intervened and got the writers to give the song to her. Well Mary is now speaking out on Rihanna stealing the huge international hit from her and it seems she holds no grudges. Mary says she is happy for Rihanna and the production duo of Tricky Stewart and The Dream, who penned Umbrella, made it up to her by writing Just Fine- a song Mary says better suits her and her outlook on life.

Keyshia Cole Covers Essence Magazine

Singer Keyshia Cole has managed to do something I said she would never do- snag the cover of Essence Magazine. Yep, our sista’s stock is definitely rising as Keyshia will be featured on the cover of the October edition which is on news stands now. Keyshia is interviewed about the usual fodder, men and of course the constant comparisons to Mary J. Blige. Will the interview be interesting or tell us anything we don’t already know? Probably not- but because Keyshia is on the cover I’ll be picking it up anyway and I suggest you all do the same. Partial excerpts from the interview can be read on the next page and hopefully within the next few days BJ Skanz will have the high quality photos from inside the magazine.

Keke Wyatt Ain’t No Soul Sista

KEKE WYATT Singer Keke Wyatt, best known for taking a knife to her husband’s throat, is back with a new album entitled Ghetto Rose and two new interviews guaranteed to get tongues wagging. AHHA first interviewed Keke who took a swipe at not only Beyonce’s vocals skills but looks as well. Keke laments If you notice, I’m yellow. My natural hair is the color she dyes her hair. I have the little waist with the big booty. It’s all the same thing but I sing better, so it was their loss. Say I don’t sing better than Beyonce? Not content with making ridiculous comments to just AHHA, Keke then took her act on the road and decided to share her brainless ideas on race, skin color and the N word with Essence Magazine writer, Kenya Byrd. You can read both the Essence and AHHA articles on the next page, but I cannot and will not be held responsible for any brain cells you might lose during the course of reading them.

What Black Women Want

With word that Vibe Vixen would be no more after the Aug/Sept edition, folks are once again scratching their heads and wondering why so many magazines aimed at Black women seem to fail. Granted, few magazines are ever geared towards sisters, but in the last 3 years, 3 of the most visible to do so, have ceased publication: Vixen, Honey and Suede. Now in the past I have written about exactly why I believe Honey folded, but Suede came and went so fast that I never even saw it, while Vixen was an on again- off again project that just never really took off.

Melanie Brown Talks To Essence…

… and is sure to set tongues a wagging with what she had to say about Eddie Murphy’s lifestyle. Speaking for the first time to an American publication, Malanie Brown, aka Scary Spice, gives Essence magazine the scoop on her relationship with Eddie and why she truly believes he so unexpectedly called their relationship off. Melanie tells Essence writer Kenya Byrd that upon agreeing to buy a home together she discovered Eddie led a lifestyle that wasn’t fit for children. Though not going into much detail, she claims having strange people knocking on her door at three and four in the morning was not something she wanted to bring her children into.
