KELLY ROWLAND FIRST WEEK SALES TALK A GOOD GAME2 150x250 Talk a Good Game Makes Top 5 Debut

Kelly Rowland’s ‘Talk a Good Game’ album has sold 65,913 copies in its first full week of release, a number good enough to secure the singer the number four spot on this week’s Billboard 200.

Kelly came in right behind Mac Miller’s ‘Watching Movies with the Sound’ (101,795), J. Cole’s ‘Born Sinner’ (297,922) and Kanye West’s ‘Yeezus’ (328,800).

Though warmly received by fans and critics alike, ‘Talk a Good Game’ is actually Kelly’s lowest debut album to date. 2002’s ‘Simply Deep’ moved 77,000 copies in its first week- as did 2011’s ‘Here I Am.’ To date Kelly’s highest debut has been 2007’s ‘Ms Kelly’ album, which debuted with first week sales of just over 86,000.

Sales aside, ‘Talk a Good Game’ is Kelly’s most honest album to date and one you should all pick up if you haven’t already.

  1. I guess sex does not always sell. Do yourself a favor and keep your clothes on cause obviously it doesn’t make a difference.

  2. Kelly is the reason her album isn’t selling. And I would tell Kelly to her face, this. She doesn’t promote herself. Kelly promotes Beyonce. She can tell reporters, journalists, etc, that before she speaks, it shouldn’t be any questions about Beyonce. She has to make it about her, period. It’s a sad day, when a dog doesn’t wag it’s own tail. In other words, hype yourself, don’t be someone else’s cheerleader. Look at Joseline Hernandez, she doesn’t need fans, because she’s Joseline biggest fan. Kelly should take on that attitude. She has millions of people saying oh how beautiful she is, why not build on that. David Gest, mentioned in an article that MJ had a crush on her, if that was me, I would have milked that. She doesn’t boost herself, and that’s her downfall.

@BOHWE, you hit the nail on the head! Ms. Kelly is still hiding under Beyonce’s shadow and always talks about her during interviews. Also, although the song “Dirty Laundry” is a good song she should have promoted some of the other party-style songs for the summer first. Her marketing and promotion needs a tune-up. On a positive note, the album is good !!!!

  4. I have to agree with BOHWE. While I do admire Kelly and I think she is a beautiful woman, the reality is that her actions still show a woman who is insecure of her own beauty, capabilities and talent.

One would think that all of the fans who claim to love her would have bought the album in droves clearly didn’t.

I listened to the entire album and there were only a few songs that I liked, so I only purchased those singles.

I want to see her gain the prominence that she greatly deserves, but she’s got to have that same vision if she really wants to succeed in this industry.

  5. Just because people praise Kelly does not make them obligated to buy her album. I hate to say it, but if she’d put out better quality music and basically do what Bowhe said above, people would buy her albums.

  6. Not suprised with the album sales, the first single is dismal and pointless.Of course we know she resented Beyonce’s success that’s natural.I much rather listen to her last record “Here I Am”she was onto something there.
