It has been a few weeks since I last posted a TTMT article but after receiving several requests, I have decided to bring it back. For those who don’t know what TTMT is, it is basically a free for all where visitors can post about anything they want. So if you have a topic you want to see discussed here on Brown Sista, bring it up in the comment section and we will go from there. Have Fun !
whatever happed to 702 and Blaque Ivory damn!
I recently saw the nude photo of Serena Williams in the JANE magazine issue, well her backside and she looks fabulous and she is doing her thing. What bothers me is the hate coming from people who say she is a man or she looks horrible because she has an athletics physic. It is truly sad when others choose their opinion to spew such venom . If you don’t like it don’t buy the magazine or click off the photos but save the hate for those worth hating. Turn around and do something more worthy
for a charity instead of hating those who choose to support charities in an unconvential way. Find a better band wagon. She is doing something with her celebrity and yes, she and her sister Venus help by building tennis courts for inner city kids in L.A. so it’s not just one cause it’s another cause.
COMMONSENSE,
I saw the pictures of Serena and she look fine to me…I didn’t see any manly features on her body, her legs and back are nicely toned and she has a real black womans but…And to be honest she wasn’t as muscular as I thought she’d be…People need to take into considertion that Serena is an althelete of course she has muscle tone…It amazes me people talk about women being too thin and setting a bad example for young girls to follow and then critize a woman for having a real womans figure.
Commonsense, I saw the pics of Serena and I have nothing but love for that sista because her body is on point!
Stephanie, I love this blog – great pics, interesting articles and always up-to-date. Thank you for building this wonderful online community. I’ve noticed there are more confrontational comments (a few are outright rude and disrespectful) in the past few weeks. I’m thinking it is the summertime heat and sistas just want to get out of the office and into the sunshine. Was it always like this?
Pure muscle. I can’t hate on that. Serena’s body is gorgeous and the fact that she’s not ashamed to show it off (thinks of pics with her in a bikini) more power to her. LOL. She’s a terrific athlete and a solid, solid, woman.
I just want to put it out there that Chrisette Michele has a great album and I am really sorry that it wasn’t promoted better. But go get it if you ain’t got it
Commonsense: Same thing about ciara too talking about her looking like a man But we can’t argue people’s taste just because they can’t find what you find in her doesnt mean they hate sista come on
For my part i wish i had her body i’m not gonna lie she is all women curves and all its really beautiful
Well i don’t have nothing to say this tuesday i’m at work chiling i just had a little argument with my bossnothing really she just wanted to show she was the ceo
what makes black people disrespect their own race when they have a little bit of power?
Anywayyyyyy Where are yall going for summer and with who? Let me be nosy ^^
liyah : GIRLLL i have it already dang it why are the people rejecting real music i am teting all those sugar pop divas take control we are really letting our kids in charge who else could buy those senseless albums so many talent are underexposed WTF?
I have no idea Keyley. A lot of people are hypnotized but these bubble gum strip tease entertainers :hifive: Chrisette is the bomb and I heard some of Jennifer Hudson songs and they really remind me of that old RnB that seemingly faded away.
Pardon me, I meant to say people are hypnotized “by” these bubble gum entertainers
Hey Liyah – I haven’t seen you on here in a minute.
I’ve been rocking Chrisette in my car for three days now and I’m so happy with that purchase. Definitely good music.
Hey Pretty-P. It has been a minute, I got laid off from my job so I have been focusing on job hunting…I am a newlywed too. But yes, I am pleased with the whole product…very good music!
“A lot of people are hypnotized but these bubble gum strip tease entertainers” you said it all but when grown women get into it to i say where is this world going my oh my ????
Chrisette can outsing them lil girl she just misses the “it” factor of these days “the body” i bougth her cd i didnt dowload i bougth it and she is so amazing i’m telling you by celebrating ghetto wanna be little brats we are telling our real artists to go away !!!!!
Even tough i strongly want to i dont think jen would have the succes she deserve then again people are mad about somebody being overrated they can decide to buy jen’s cds and make her number 1
I wanna see what will happen i’ll definely buy her cd girl can sing
Unfortunately these youth don’t know what real music is..They didn’t grow up in the 80’s & 90’s generation with real talent like: Envouge, Escape, Brownstone, Miki Howard, Telvin Campbell, Keith Sweat, Tony Tonie Tone, Luther, and countless numbers of others…This is there generation of music it sounds like garbage to us because we’ve been exposed to better (thank goodness)!….Just about everything in my MP3 is strickly old school R & B, I have such an appreciation for old music, I LOVE IT!
Did anyone see Making the Band last night? MTV promoted the hell out of the show because of the fight between Lori Ann and Diddy, but they edited it so much that you really did understand everything.
Don’t forget 80’s and 90’s rap!
MC Lyte, Dougie Fresh, MC Shan, LL Cool J, Chubb Rock, Queen Latifah, Public Enemy, Poor Righteous Teachers, Lost Boyz, Salt n Pepper, MC Hammer, KRS One, Stetsosonic, Special Ed, Marley Marl, Red Alert, AZ, Roxanne Shante, Eric B and Rakim, Heavy D, Monie Love, Nas and much more…
Yes, those were the days :brownsista:
Stef: i swear girl! :hifive: i do find inspiration in what they call old shcool if them kids listen to some of that music that’ll make them better enough with the *** shaking
Stef and Pretty Parker, what is your fav song on Chrisette Michelle’s album.
Mine is Good Girl. I can’t stop playing it!
Love her!
S.Dot, My favorite is If I Had My Way. Oh my goodness, whew, that song is just beautiful! And Best of Me – I love her voice and the music on that one.
YES that song is what made me go out to buy it!!! She’s truly blessed with that voice!
I bought Kelly’s Rowlands too and I’m a little disappointed. I wanted more from her, but her cd is good. Not great, but good! :)
:iagree: that nobody is really making real rnb and if they do, their albums are considered boring. chrisette’s album is the truth and i believe in my heart that even if this girl was promoted like rihanna she still wouldn’t get the sales she deserves. look at fantasia! just like kelly rowland’s album which is straight fiyah minus the three club songs she has on it! but people refuse to realize that these girls are trying to bring back real rnb and are instead underpromoted and there are constant posts that they don’t have the it factor! please, us black people are underappreciating our own, and gravitating to the popnb that is being served up by our favourite black artists. it’s really sad. i hope alicia keys and keysia cole do well, because if they don’t there is no point in chrisette, kelly or fantasia even trying anymore! :hmph:
s.dot: mine is :Love Is You
truernbisstillalive :i agree
SDOT,
I agree with prettyparker, “If I Had My Way” is my favorite Chrisette Michelle song…And I will definately buy her album.
Oh Yea! DES!…We can’t forget about the old school rap because today’s rap music suck as well…Just like R & B today, too much talk about sex!
KEYLEY… Your right old music is very inspirational…I LOVE my old school men like the Isley Brothers, Teddy P. O.J’s, El Debarge, Barry White, these brothas give me the chills!
:-D
Stef now you have me thinking of my favorite man – Will Downing! Time for me to bust out my iPOD and listen to my ‘prettyparker’ playlist.
stef: Teddy P mmmm jesus i can have an orgasm listening to him dang did i write that out loud? :D  :lol2: :noway: sorry
Yes, Des that’s when they had real rap music. Their words sounded right plus we could understand what they were saying. The beats were tight too, rappers back then didn’t make garbage like these rappers today. All they rap about is how many h*** they got, diamonds on their teeth, and cars. Even Snoop Dogg makes garbage now. Did you see Snoop Dogg’s new video called Candy? that mess is not worth being put on the radio.
I hear you pretty P. My favorite songs on Chrisette’s album is “Your Joy” and “I’m in this for you” Oh and Is this what love is like…
PRETTYPARKER…Will Downing, Oh Yes! All day long!
KEYLEY..You’re a mess girl! :lol2:
TINAMRIANDA,
You’re right rap music meant something back then, it was more positive and social conscious and it sound better….Violence and sex has almost destroyed the rap industry and content of the music.
And don’t get me started on Snoop…He needs to grow the hell up there’s nothing cool about a grown A** 30 something year old married man and father walking around with baggy clothes holding his crotch rapping about sex and getting high…His music is garbage and he’s such a loser and embarrassment.
 :loser:
Hey Tinamiranda, no, I didn’t see Snoop Dogg’s video Candy – but I can just imagine how degrading it must be. Especially with some of his most recent antics (women on dog chains) :noway:
I am disappointed in the way rap turned out. I remember when it was music meant to empower young black people, especially young poor black people. Back then, it was more about speaking your mind, talking about your frustrations with the sysytem and speaking out against things that were not in our best interest as a community.
Young people today will never have that and I feel for them. There is no real connection to the music they listen to.
It’s all shocking the masses so you can make the most money. Gospel music these days is just as disappointing. Pure NOISE.
So sad :|
I forgot to add Wu-Tang Clan (CREAM) Cash Rules Everything Around Me…
tinamiranda:sure did seen that video hell what worse can they do these days?
stef:im serious lool he is sexy hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
Snoop is so disrespectfull but don’t blame him blame the women on his video and the ones that even go to his concert like osmeone said once in everything the people are to blame is less and less people buy his garbage he would think about changing a lil
des:dont you listen to beyonce?
keyley: don’t you listen to Ciara and Rhianna?
KEYLEY…I agree the women in the video industry have to take some blame as well because they’re lined up 10 miles long when rappers have a video casting call…It’s really sad because some of theses girls really think that doing these sleezy videos is a stepping stone to get them on the big screen or a singing career.
:noway:
Des I agree about the Gospel music. I was raised in a spiritual home. I am really disapppointed in Gospel music as well, I think they are trying to copy secular music. I won’t lie I do listen to certain secular music, ones that avoid filth and strong sexual content. (Chrisette Michele, Alicia Keys and Aaliyah). But there is a time and place for everything and when I want to hear Gospel, I WANT TO HEAR GOSPEL!! Lots of people are just in it for the money.
LIYAH,
That’s why I said OLD SCHOOL all the way! Even my gosspel music…I don’t like too many new age gosspel songs either because it sounds like dance music and completely takes the church feel out of it… Rev. James Cleveland, Mighty Clouds of Joy, Shirley Ceaser, Mississippi Mass Choir, good old fashion church music.
OMG I love the Mighty Clouds! and James Cleveland. You are so right, its a lot of dance type beats. I think they are trying to attrack the young people but as my dad said they are going about it the wrong way. My Dad is a Reverand and he even tells me to let it all go (secular music) I am little by little b/c I used to be into Rap and I have let that go too. But it’s according to your spiritual strength and to be honest, that is one of the reasons I have not been on this blog for a few weeks now. Sometimes I get caught up again.
By the way I don’t mean to offend Debra or Stephanie when I said I haven’t been on this site for a few weeks. It’s not this site, as a matter of fact I think this is one of the good sites, its the conversations I that I get into sometimes that are no good for me
Oh trust me Keyley I do blame the video girls too. They’re no victums. Alot of people get mad at the rappers how the women in the videos get treated, but I’m sure nobody is holding a gun on those women’s heads forcing them to shake thier butts or be a “tip drill”. Whenever I see the rappers call those girls h*** and b****** in front their faces, I really don’t get too upset at the rappers.
I get madd at the video girls. Why because they will sit up in there smiling and hugging up on those rappers while the girls are being called such file names. Some women will indulge in the disrespect.
TO LIYAH! Why is this…taht a girl with talent gets no promotion while Rhianna na na na gets all this publisity for not being able to sing worth a crap. Why are all these artist being promoted backwards. Fantasia’s album is the best I’ve heard and she didn’t even go plat yet. What up with that and What up Jay-Z. Or is it more like Cra-Z.
des: mirror effect well i sure do and i dance to their songs but i dont praise them and i will never figth anyone over them can be virtually or in the real life krkrkr hmmm…
stef: i swear if i see them girl that he chained up to go at the whatever awards i’ll slap them for sure :P what a shame i’ll die and go to hell before a man treat me like im some kind of puppy no matter how rich he is !!!!!
Tinamiranda: you said it all then again
im sure some people here will do the video ***** for some $ damn black women need to upgrade for real
Lovher:jay z is pimping out rite now ^^
Loveher I feel you :hifive: I don’t know how much creative input or promotion Jay-Z has on Chrisette, but I think he coulda done a better job promoting her. I can’t even find her album sales when I try to look it up
keyley: you’re a LIAR :lol2:
Your comments have been just as passionate and full of fight like most people on this board.
Take the advice you recently gave Stella. I don’t know you, don’t care to know you, wasn’t talking to you – so don’t address me :booty:
Tinamiranda, I understand your position on the video girls  But their decision to be a part of that culture does not exonerate the rappers in any way shape or form. I believe, they are equal players in this game.
Des, I know the rappers are just as guilty. I’m just pointing out the fact that people make a pity-party out the video girls. Like they(the girls) are innocent angels that didn’t know any better. Two wrongs don’t make a right.
It’s not just some of the video girls, it’s random women too. I guess we would call them “groupies” they will do anything to get with an artist. A rapper/artist can’t even get into the VIP section without women being all up in their faces or trying to grab hold of the thier crotch. Some women also tell the rapper/artist that she’ll be discrete. She doesn’t have respect for the rappers wives or themselves.
I recall Lloyd Banks saying that few women be lifting up their shirts showing him thier breast. I also recall 50 cent saying he couldn’t get any sleep in his hotel room because women alot of times knock on his door.
So as you can see if some of these video girls/ women want respect they need to start respecting themselves and stop going after these men. Like I said before I blame the rappers just as much because all they have to say is NO.
:brownsista: You haven’t enjoyed real r&B music if you don’t know about my boy BOBBY WOMACK.
Tinamiranda,
:iagree: These ladies have to show self respect before they can demand it from anywhere else :iagree:
Some of these rappers have daughters. I wonder how they deal with all of this on a personal level? What do they tell their girls? What will they tell their girls when they get old enough and the boys they date have become so accustomed to the type of female they see in music videos or hear about in the music they listen to and can recite word for word.
Just a thought… :brownsista:
Tina, keyley  i agree i love seeing my sisterz admiting that its first and forward our own fault the fact that these rappers don’t respect women who ever is grown enough to speak up the truth can accomplish a lot
Now lets sty under the umbrella ella ella hey hey hey wat is wrong wit me?! :lol2:
Talk to me tuesday is back? YAY well aint none to say really expcept that i’m doing good just working a lil harder then usual but its all fine i keep on wishing that brown sista stop being a celebrity blog that will feel so good then again some live by celebrities so that will be like cutting out their air and i dont wanna kill no one
how yall sistaz doing tho? summertime some of us gotta work  some of us are goig to ATL wth the fine man (i am so jealous) :lol2: bottom line show some love sistaz
DES:
INTERESTING THOUGHTS
I SOMETIMES WONDER THE SAME THING. BUT WE REEP WHAT WE SOW. KNOW WHAT I MEAN?
SOME OF MY FRIENDS DEAL WITH THAT NOW. SOME OF THESE BOYS HAVE NO RESPECT BUT I MAKE SURE I RESPECT MY SELF.
THEY ONLY DIRESPECT THE FEMALES THAT WON’T STAND UP FOR THEMSELVES OR WON’T STAND UP FOR WHAT’S RIGHT.
Dark Sister what’s up MA!!!??? Where you been? I came into work today to tie up a few loose ends, but I’m out at noon. Can’t wait to leave NY and NJ for a few days. I’ll still be online, I have to bring my lap top ya know. The Deals keep on coming in and that’s a great thing!!!! :)
But to this topic, I didn’t reply because I feel a certain way about the women and rappers. In the Rappers defense, yes some of these girls go on set….BOUT IT…and READY TO POP OFF! For real, with no shame to their game! NONE! I hate those chicks because they make all the video models look bad. Now in the Women’s/Video Model defense not all want to F***! I’ve been there and done that myself (that’s all I’m saying..as far as me)and not all the girls want to screw and be the main chick. A handful do want to be like Ester Baxter, or Deelishous and only want to build to there resume. Those two I respect, you never hear or see them degrading themselves. BTW there pictures in Magazines are classy and tasteful…IMO! It’s no different than what Serena William’s just did or Garcelle (AT HER AGE I MIGHT ADD). So I’m 50/50 in this. :)
:iagree: Everybody is not like Karrine Steffens. She might have made a little profit, but in the process she really made a bad name for herself.
Hey dot wassup girl?im so tired i need a martini :lol2:
I know this is a talk to me TUESDAY blog and it’s not Tuesday but I just have to vent on something. For the past week there’s been a guy at my job trying to “holla at me”; call me when I get off work, and attempt to get me to go on dates with him after I made especially clear that I have no interest in a relationship right now. To give some insight about myself, I’m a young black women about to be 21, I’m very independent and I’m in a selfish all-about-me phase. I just want to know what you ladies do when a man is interested in you, but you could care less? How do you go about letting him know that friends is as far as he will get? I need some help!!! Thanks for letting me vent
Ask dark sister or S.dot they have the 411 about men :lol2:
SICKO,
Just be honest that’s all that you can do. At least you’re being honest with yourself by saying you’re in your selfish “all about me stage”, and there’s nothing wrong with having a selfish stage to focus on yourself…That’s a very positive mature thing to be a young woman and understand that you don’t need a man, (although they are good to have sometines)…I give you your props for being independant and not obsessing over having a man…Maybe if more women took time to be alone and focus on themselves and not worry about having a man they would be better off.
Lol keyley
TO SiKcO :Be honnest because being even too friendly to him will mislead him girl! i’ve been stalked the freak up i knmow what im talking bout amd for the record i’m still on my “all about me phase” me too even tho 21 years old was long time ago for me krkrrk ^^ Good thing you’re independent because when you can take care of yourself you don’t need anyone else to be one your teeth
be honnest with him and move on how the chocolate ice cream did he got your number anyway?? doesnt matter what matter is that you need to tell him off nicely but with a tone that give no replique be firm :-D  and if he doesnt work get your highest heel shoe and beat him up you migth get arested but when you get tou you’ll be free…
Hey !!!don’t do it im just kidding :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:
where that i find a product for really bad dry scalp
Hi guys! I posted a message in response a few days ago but it didn’t show up so I’m trying again lol  Thank yall so much for your input and help, I couldn’t agree more with what you guys said. I know I shouldn’t have given him my # because then he could misconstrue my niceness for other things; so I deleted him and let him know in a super firm way that I don’t want much to do with him outside of the workplace (i.e. dates, late night calls, etc.). After I told him that he got the message and hasn’t bothered me since  Thanks again to Stef, Dark Sista and Keyley!!
I hope this posts this time lol.
