Taraji P. Henson Lines Up Next Film Role
Actress Taraji P. Henson is determined to conquer both the big and small screen. The Empire star will be returning to her hit Fox series for a fourth season in September, as well as starring in the upcoming Screen Gems film Proud Mary. Via Deadline, Taraji will play a hit woman who is moved to pop a cap in the ass of anyone who threatens the life of a young boy who comes into her care.
The film’s script was co-written Christian Swegal and former Days of Our Lives scribe John Newman. A director has not been announced, however Screen Gems says they expect to start principal shooting on the film in April.
Taraji has a longstanding relationship with Screen Gems, having starred in their films No Good Deed, Think Like a Man, and its sequel, Think Like a Man Too.
Taraji’s latest film, Hidden Figures, was number one at the box office over the weekend, tallying ticket sales of just over 22.4 million. In its three weeks of release the film has grossed almost 40 million. It reportedly cost 25 million to make.
