Teairra Mari Returns to Her Musical Roots

Teairra Mari Previews ‘Bad’ Single

After a stint on reality television… and most recently rehab, it appears singer Teairra Mari is finally ready to return to her musical roots. The one-time Jay-Z protégé and Princess of ROC Nation recently used her Instagram page to preview her upcoming single Bad, the first for the embattled young diva in almost four years.

It’s been well over a decade since Teairra’s first and only hit, Make Her Feel Good, peaked at #9 on the Billboard R&B charts. Since then the 29-year old singer has bounced from label to label, releasing a string of hip-hop-tinged singles, each failing to recapture the public’s imagination.

Will Bad be the single that finally helps put Teairra back on top? Give the short preview a listen below and let us know what you think.

  1. I’ve heard her sing a capella so I know she has a great voice. These songs are just not the business though. She needs some a Babyface grooves from the nineties but I think his time has come and gone. Where are the quality writers and producers at these days?

  2. @JBL
I think Teairra Mari is talented. Her being on “Love And Hip Hop Hollywood” has shown she dealt with issues. The issue is this current is all about what’s “hot”. There is something that’s missing in todays records and it’s substance. I know there are quality writers and producers but the record business has set their standards low. The route for Teairra is to keep putting out records and experiment. She needs to have the right people for her. If she gets herself together she should think about having her own label.
