Thandie Newton Added To “Colored Girls” Cast

Thandie Newton has officially replaced Mariah Carey in Tyler Perry’s film adaptation of “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf.” Due to doctor’s orders Mariah dropped out just five days before shooting was to begin- further prompting speculation that the singer was pregnant.

In an open letter on his website, Perry told fans “What I do know of [Carey] is that she is a professional and wouldn’t back out of a deal unless it was a major issue. So, what ever is going on, I wish her and Nick [Ca non] the best and she has all my love, prayers and support.”

Thandie joins an A-list cast that includes Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Kerry Washington and Kimberly Elise.

  1. Mariah isn’t a bad actress and i looked forward to seeing her. Thandie is an excellent replacement though and will do the part justice.

  2. Hooray!!!

Love Mariah…but, this is a good replacement!!!

  3. GREAT choice. I am not a fan of Mariah’s acting skills and am so glad Thandie was selected for the opportunity.

  4. All they need to do is replace Tyler Perry in directing or producing this movie. Because, with him on board, it won’t turn out to be any good.sorry but , his films tend to be on the manic depressive side and it never truly ends on a upbeat positive note.

  5. I look forward to this movie.

So glad Kimberley Elise will be back on scene too.

  6. I like Thandie better as an actress. Mariah should stick to singing.
