TLC Biopic Coming to VH1 in 2012

The life story of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Lefteye” Lopes and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, collectively known as TLC, is set to be told on VH1.

According to a press release sent out by the cable channel early this morning, a series of music themed biopics will debut on VH1 next year, with TLC being the first to get the treatment.

“Chilli” and “T-Boz” have both signed on to serve as consultants and executive producers. The telefilm will chronicle the groups rise to fame and yes, even tackle head on the car crash that killed its most controversial member, “Lefteye.”

Kate Lanier, who wrote the screenplay for the Tina Turner biopic “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” will pen the screenplay; while Bill Diggins and Maggie Malina will executive produce alongside “T-Boz” and “Chilli.”

Filming is expected to begin in the spring of 2012.

  1. O.M.G. You all have no idea how excited I am about this!

  2. I will watch it. Their story needs to be told, and I’m glad Vh1 is putting it together.

  3. I happy to hear this news. I pray that since T-Boz and Chilli are working on the project they will get paid an excellent amount for their efforts. No one in the music business should have to suffer financially the way these three ladies did at the beginning of their careers.

  4. I would love to watch this, too. They were one of my favorite girl groups.

  5. Another memorable biopic to add to The Temptations, The Jackson’s, The Five Heartbeats, and What’s Love… I hope they make good and dramatic!
