Toni Braxton Honored in the ATL+ Grammy Nod

Singer Toni Braxton was honored over the weekend at the 53rd Annual Urban League of Greater Atlanta Equal Opportunity Day Gala, held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.

The R&B diva turned reality star was bestowed with the Woman of Empowerment Award, which recognized Toni for her work with the Autism and Lupus Foundations of America.

As previously reported, Toni’s oldest son Diezel was diagnosed with autism at the age of three, while Toni herself was diagnosed with lupus back in 2005.

Toni called the award an “honor” via Instagram and also took a moment to acknowledge her mother who was in attendance, saying “Mommy, it is because of you I have the strength to keep trying every day.”

And in another bit of Toni news, she and longtime collaborator Babyface scored a Best R&B Album Grammy nod for their “Love, Marriage, Divorce” album. They’ll be up against Bernhoft (Islander), Aloe Blacc (Lift Your Spirit), Robert Glasper Experiment (Black Radio 2) and Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings (Give the People What They Want).

  1. Toni & Babyfaces album was great. One nomination. Please. This is why I barely watch the Grammy’s, and certainly don’t hold any credence to those who win..(Diana Ross, has never won a Grammy?? And MJ or even Prince should have 25-40!)Congrats to Toni for everything else. And I still do hope she wins..they deserve it.
