A Toni Braxton Lifetime Biopic is Reportedly in the Works
Are you guys ready for a Toni Braxton Lifetime biopic? Well ready or not the network is already planning to bring the Grammy-award winning singer’s life story to the small screen.
According to published reports, Unbreak My Heart: The Toni Braxton Story, is already in the works and has found a director in actor Vondie Curtis Hall. Both Toni and Vondie have worked with Lifetime in the past. Hall directed the network’s 2012 film Abducted: The Carlina White Story, while Toni starred in their 2013 film Twist of Faith.
The film is expected to feature appearances from Babyface, LA Reid, Pebbles and even Toni’s sisters. No word who will play Toni, or if she may actually play herself.
Toni had previously been attached to the life story of 60’s soul singer Darlene Love. My Name is Love: The Darlene Love story was announced last year and was supposed to air on Oprah’s OWN network. We never heard anything else about it, so I assume Toni’s role in the film somehow fell through.
At any rate, Toni is 100% behind her Lifetime biopic and unlike previous Lifetime films, the network has secured the rights to use Toni’s actual music. No doubt thanks to LA & Babyface, who wrote most of it.
Update: Toni will indeed be starring as herself in the film. She is also listed as an executive producer.
Go Toni !
