Toni Braxton’s Holiday Show In Vegas
When Mariah Carey was having a musical drought, LA Reid took her under his wing and Mariah’s next CD, The Emancipation Of Mimi, became a smash hit, selling 4 million copies and re-establishing Mariah as a musical force to be reckoned with. Next up for LA is Janet Jackson, who has also fallen into a musical slump over the last few years. “Feedback” was hand picked by LA to help re-establish Janet’s presence on the music charts and fans and critics alike are loving the new single. So seeing as how LA apparently has the magic touch when it comes to resurrecting divas of old- can someone please get him Toni Braxton’s number. LA and Babyface first signed Toni to LaFace Records back in 1990 so the brotha is already familiar with the sista’s talents. Besides En Vogue, I cannot think of another artist more deserving of a career resurrection than Toni Braxton.
Toni’s first two albums were classics and Libra, her last CD, was very underrated. Now Toni is stuck down in Vegas, where she’s pictured below, performing Holiday shows for tourists. Amazingly enough, some 17 years after hitting the music scene, Toni looks as good today as she did back then.

I’d love to see her make a comeback. But nothing contrived, please!

I think Ne-yo’s musical style and production would be a perfect fit For Toni today. They should hook up but most of all Toni needs a record label that has faith in her.

I would love for En Vogue, Toni Braxton and Anita Baker to comeback strong. Fingers crossed for the new year.

I can’t agree more. I love Toni Braxton (Favorite CD being The Heat) and I would love to see her back on the scene. I think her voice is pretty darn good and different due to it’s deep tone. She brings a lot of attitude to her songs, and I’m missing it. That last Pic is hilarious, it looks she wants to say “I’m tired of this bull.” And once again, that same style wig makes its appearance.

I loved Toni Braxton when she first came out. I can remember playing her first few CD’s over and over again. Then all of a sudden she disappeared
I also remember hearing her sing on this awards show a few years back and she sounded horrible! But, she was working that dress
Maybe one day she’ll make a comeback or at least I hope she does

Chile you are right. I obviously had the tour on my mind.

Toni’s great. It’s LA Reid that needs the comeback. when he took over Arista Records they had their worst times ever. he goot the boot fast and Clive Davis, whom LA replaced, got the last laugh when they hired him back and promoted him to head of BMG North America. (Arista’s parent company)

Toni has a wonderful voice and she looks great. I think if she focuses on mature crowds and doesn’t try too hard to act too young, she’ll be fine. Unlike a lot of female singers that have come around the past few years - she actually has talent.

Toni Braxton is signed to J Records. Her CD will be coming out sometime in 08. Tamar Braxton (Toni’s sister) is also signed to Clive Davis J Records.

I just returned from Las Vegas for the holidays.
Please don’t say that Toni is stuck in Las Vegas. I think she’s doing quite well.
She is the only African American singer who has a permanent gig.
She’s on the level of Celine Dione—who recently completed a long run.
Toni’s tickets are 160.00 per person.
Vegas has become one of the premier entertainment sites. For example, Jay Z’s 40/40 Club is opening on New Years Eve; Kanye, Chris Brown, Beyonce and other prominent acts are performing in Las Vegas also.
I would like to see a new albulm, but I think she’s doing quite well.

Toni is ok. But En Vogue now them girls can BLOW!! I would love to see them back on top. If Dawn would ever get her act together, they could. They really looked good in Stevie Wonders video. So Dawn, you fine as hell but get it together baby. They are not the same with out you, and you are not the same with out them. The door is open. There are no female groups out there than can hang with them. Dawn do it for me…please. Oh by the way Terri! holla at your boy here in DALLAS!!

When it comes To Toni Braxton I’ll still support her

Pisces is right. I can’t think of one female artist that is still around that came out during that time. Gotta be honest though, I like the old Toni Braxton. Less skin and weave. More vocals.
Juicyblacklips said,
Well whether you all want to admit it or not Toni is stuck in Vegas cause she has no career anymore. Vegas is where artists who can’t sell anymore go to still make money. Sad but true.

The last 2 times I saw Toni Braxton she was horrible and mumbled her way through both performances. I know Toni is known for having a smoldering voice but she acts as if she is incapable of singing an understandable note even though she has a very strong voice. Until she can step up her game and get back she used to be she is better off in Vegas performing for old people who can barely hear.
S. Paradise said,
Toni’s music was great and I just can’t say what happened exactly, maybe ageism, but people would like to attribute everything that is “classy, sexy, electric” about r&b to one, young African American artist. People forget that En Vogue and Toni Braxton were among the first to adopt the Showgirl element into their music and performances. I really think it’s descrimination, as I said…people want young and still younger, these days… But you might blame Toni too, she became one of the obvious plastic-faces at the height of her career and it’s like once you buy into that, being superficial, you can’t blame people when they turn away for someone even more superficial and gorgeous.

My favorite Toni B song is “Love Should have Brought You Home Last Night” (I hope I have the title correct). Toni B will always be one of my favorite artist. She has a powerful voice. FYI: Anita Baker was supposed to sing a song by Babyface and L A Reid but she choose not to and then they signed Toni B to sing their song. Also a few years ago Ms Anita Baker did make a comeback CD and is was as amazing as ever.
I love both of these artist because they are musically talented. Anita Baker walked away because she wanted to raise her children and be a full time mom. Toni B, if I am not mistaken was done complely wrong by her lable at the time she left music for a while.
I would love to hear both of these talented sistas continue to give us beautiful music to listen to.
Keepin It Reel said,
And how could I ever forget to mention the “FUNKY DIVAS” !!!!!
The sistas of the orginal En Vouge!!!!!! I mean how great where they.
They gave us some harmonizing that will last forever. I honestly dont think there will be another girl group that sing a harmony like those ladies. If Dawn Robinson would not have let her over inflated ego get in the way then they would still hopefully be a group today.
At that time in the 90’s Toni B and En Vouge was very, very entertaining. I would love to see all of them back on regular basis.

Toni Braxton is one of my favorite singers of all time not to mention the most beautiful. I would love to see her make a comeback. I listen to her music all the time she reminds me of Phyllis Hyman.
del said,
blacksista!!! There is no way no how you can compare Toni B. to the one and only Phyllis Hyman!! What are you thinking about? She is one of the true Divas! She could sing and sang! And have you heard her whistle? Listen to the song “Living All Alone”. Sorry my beautiful blaclsista, Toni can’t touch Phyllis.

Toni Braxton started sexxing it up too much and that is why people lost interest in her. From how cold she was when she first came out and then towards then end it was like you don’t need to do this. She needs to go back to basics with short cut and the smoking songs and leave all of those sex antics to the no talent hoochies out now.
