  1. It looks boring to me…..but o.k I guess

  2. The young Ciara looks NOTHING like her.

  3. OMG, I cant Help

Ciara, GURL!!!!!!!!! who you foolinf, who voice u was using @ the end….LMAO

The movie looks okay, could have been a credible actress/singer like Raven

  4. Young, Black and Intelligent

When does this come out? I want to see Hill Harper and Lynn Whitefield. LOL! Ciara who? Please.

  5. I think that’s Ciara singing at the end. It was nothing spectacular- definitely her voice. Glad they re-shot it to include her doing her own vocals.

  6. as much as i love pattie labell, i can not pay to go see this. ciara can not sing….sorry yall. i will wait for it to come on tv or something. i seen ciara in another movie it was ok nothing that you would remember…..sorry again. the first trailor they had out it was not ciara singing. her voice was there a little in this trailor lol couldn’t miss it….iw wonder who’s idea it was to put her in this movie

  7. @LELE you don’t have to say SORRY you are stating your opinon…..It’s not like no one on here Is feeling froggy and they are goin’ to jump lol

    I agree w/ you though!

  8. this might be good

  9. I think these blogs are going to put black actresses out of work. Because if we don’t support them who will. This is her first movie why can’t she be afforded the same as another actress/singer who started of terrible and is now somewhat mediocre. Let’s support more than 3 or 4 black singers/actresses.

  10. she get support just not on blogs.

  11. :) *sigh*
    …this movie….ummmm….
it should come on Lifetime. I think that would be good and then, if it comes on on a Saturday when it’s raining and I’m doing nothing, I can watch it.

  12. What the hell. That last song was definately fixed. It looks like dreamgirls. Who is going to pay to watch this?

@NNE I agree, I think lifetime is a good idea. I want to see it, but lets be real, it would be like 12 at the box office.

@BEE this is not her first movie. I must say, she looks like she is a much better actor since then. But this whole thing looks cheesy, it’s not her fault but…

As many pushbacks this had and as long as they had us waiting, this should’ve been better. It’s only a preview, but it’s not all that.

Why is the little girl a better singer than the star of the movie?
Ciara’s voice was doctored at the end, some parts were her, but most wasn’t. That was her at the very end. The little girl does look like Ciara though.

  13. There are millions of people that will pay for it.

  14. @Titi, the only way millions will see this is if YOU go millions of times

  15. umm… I LOVE lynn whitfield and she still look good

  16. Ciara isn’t a strong vocalist, but she seems like she can act from the trailer, we’ll see. She’s surrounded with veteran actors, you know the movie will have some really good scenes and the critics will probably cut it up, like Tyler Perry films. They always mean more to us because it’s our story being told. Ciara at least walked away with increased skills and experience. The music business is so fickle, she should focus more on acting, modeling and producing, like Queen Latifah, go with the flow!

I like her spirit and wish her the best!

  17. @ BEE & @ CYNTHINIA I agree with y’all

I hate that some black people have a hard time supporting each other. That is what I admire about other races, even if the person form their race is half good they support each other. We’ll be so such farther if we did the same.

  18. Looks like a Lifetime movie and I love Lifetime movies. I want to see Lynn and Hill but I doesn’t look like Ciara can act. I might be wrong.

  19. even if the person form their race is half good they support each other. We’ll be so such farther if we did the same.

    ————————–
Oh yeah white men and women TOTALLY supported Jennifer Aniston’s new movie “Love Happens” — NOT!

  20. i’m so glad this didn’t go to the movies like they planned on doing. it looks very made for tv movie-ish

  21. @ MRSJONES

I agree, but they was supposed to release this ages ago, I think dreamgirls killed the hype too. It looks so much like dreamgirls. Also, Ciara was a bigger star when they made this, they had no idea Rihanna and Keri would come knock her out the scene. I bet the producers are thinking, damn, we should’ve got that big head girl from barbados.

  22. Hell naw. This will FAIL big time. If this movie makes money, its only because of the comedy. That was NOT Ciara sining that last song, she just sang the last few words in her airy voice. The makers of this movie shoud be ashamed.

  23. Sorry, but this movie has flop written all over it. Ciara just doesn’t have any serious star power to carry this movie. Plus Ciara is a dancer, not a singer.

  24. “That is what I admire about other races, even if the person form their race is half good they support each other.”

Girlfriend, you must not visit a lot of non-urban directed blogs/forum? I was on a Bollywood discussion the other night… BELIEVE ME, they go hard on their ppl. 10x harder!

I think the thing to remember is that just because some ppl choose not to support a celebs project it’s okay…. it’s okay.

  25. Anoyta has a point but it doesn’t mean because others are doing it that makes it right lol.

I dunno how well this will do on the big screen but it looks cliche yet still interesting enough I wanna see it just dunno about paying for it.

  26. mommy, what's a "book"?

yooooo….just had a thought tell me if i’m correct or not but didn’t bradny and diana ross cover this type of movie bout 10 years back? that one comes on lifetime from time to time also. that one was mad bomb(really nice)….this one seems…..hmm. can’t really find the word to describe it. so like i asked isn’t this almost the same thing?

  27. mommy, what's a "book"?

**i’m sorry i meant “brandy” instead of bradny.

  28. Fortunately this is not about “supporting each other” If something is wack, it’s wack and thats the bottom line.

  29. @ MOMMY WHATS A BOOK

I believe you are talking about Double Platium. And yeah it’s about the same thing, except Brandy has a beautiful voice and was singing her own music. They have the same soppy energy, but I did like Double Platium, and i have to give this a chance, when its on cable that is.

  30. Another music movie. Next. Give me something more unique.

  31. I wont waste my hard working money on this crap.

  32. With Ciara starring in this movie it should not be called “Mama I Want to Sing” it should be called “Baby Just Dance”. They no she can not SING. I’m not spending my money or time on this.

  33. @ MOMMY WHATS A BOOK

I was thinking, this isnt Double Platium w/ Brandy and Diana Ross, this is that Movie The Gospel w/ Boris Kojo and Tamera Gray. I’m sick of the Hollywood recycle bin.

  34. mommy, what's a "book"?

yeah “double platinum”. i wonder why brandy hasn’t done more acting? or monica for that matter. ya’ll remember that one movie where she fell in love with the white dude instead of the black guy who wasn’t her flava (& wasn’t showing her any attention)? oh well. haha.

  35. mommy, what's a "book"?

    @ truthteller
never saw the gospel. wasn’t really into it. i looked at who was in it…saw too many names, became dissatisfied. but i know what you are talking about i figure that movie is about the same. also there was another movie where there were two brothers….one was a rapper(trouble maker) and the other was a preacher(losing faith) and they had to save the church. the rapper dude went over to the good side and well…you can figure out the rest. you know what i’m talking about?

  36. @Jersey girl-lol okay.
I agree lifetime status-look cheesy & it ain’t her fault. CIara acting seem decent but still not enuff 2 garner respect from real actors.
Her singing-the same as her albums-mediocre.
    I know i ain’t payin 4 it, i don’t even know if its worth 2hrs of my time-free.
I wish people would try 2 master one craft first then venture out.

  37. i bet she can act better than beyonce

  38. Depending on Ciara’s acting skills, this one might turn out to be an OK movie. I’ll keep an open mind about it and go see it.

  39. @Tee, I’m starting to think subconciously you like Beyonce.

I’ve been scared of Lynn Whitfield since Thin Line, not a fan of Ciara’s voice, don’t know Hill Harper like that, Love Patti LaBelle.

I’m either gonna bootleg this or be forced to see it for our monthly Girl’s Night Out with my female relatives. But if they won’t go with me to see This Is It, then screw them. lol

  40. @ MOMMY WHATS A BOOK

You are talking about preaching to the choir w/ the brothers, one a rapper and one a paster. Fighting temptations had some simularites.

And The Gospel is damn near the same. The dad was a pastor and the son started off singing gospel and then went to R&B he got famous and went back to church. Frankly, I’m sick of this, I refuse to pay for it. I’ll check it out on cable, but the theater Heeeeell nawl!

  41. @ TEE

I’m not so sure about that. Both singers got their acting debut w/ MTV. Beyonce’s movie was Carmen, and Ciara’s was All You’ve Got. Ciara sucked big time. It looks like she improved, but atleast Beyonce was singing her own songs. Ciara’s song in this music is more airbrushed than that pic of Nia Long, hell it’s not even her. Beyonce wins this round.

  42. THE ONLY THINGS GOOD ABOUT THIS:
    1. FAITH-BASED
    2. WAKE UP CALL, GOD IS TRYING TO TELL CIARA SOMETHING! I’M WAITING TO SEE IF SHE’LL LISTEN. IN THE MEANTIME I HAVE A QUESTION -IS IT JUST ME OR IS THIS CHILD ONE OF THE MOST NON-SPIRITUAL FEMALES OUT RIGHT NOW?
IF I WAS HER I WOULD BE FEARING THE LORD RIGHT NOW, I MEAN THIS GIRL ACTUALLY DID A MOVIE ABOUT TURNING YOUR BACK ON THE LORD, AND STILL DOESN’T GET IT!!!
    3. MARVIN FINALLY GETS HIS CHECK
    4. PATTI FINALLY GETS HER CHECK

    CAPS OFF

Hungry children all over the world, yet we have time to encourage people in their false confidence by supporting mess and making undeserving people a little richer…

  43. This movie is garbage and I feel sorry for Ciara to be part of this. Don’t waste your time and money, people.

  44. This movie is just like the play so it will be pretty good! It’s nice to have someone new in a black movie instead of the same ppl!

And as far as the singing if that was ciara at the end then all the talk about her not being able to sing needs to go out the door! Cuz there is only so much the editing process can do!

Most of ya’ll come off as bitter and make sites like this seem like its a place for blacks to bash other blacks! Take that crap somewhere else

  45. sky loves some cece

Interesting how the ones who always say cece is wack, can’t sing, looks like a man or what have you are always the first ones on her posts on blogs. Cece has been in the game what five years now you didn’t think she could sing from the beginning why look at her stuff now? I never understood that. I know I will be there and so will a bunch of others.

  46. Discernment high five

  47. people sayin ciara can’t sing well hell beyonce can’t act. we still sat thru Obsessed, Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records and Goldmember. So im gonna support CiCi

  48. @ Disernment

I couldn’t agree more. That’s not even her a55 singing until she got till the end. To add insult to injury they think we’re stupid.

  49. @ TDKK

No she’s not that good of an actor either, but she can sing and dance. Ciara can dance and thats it. Beyonce still wins. I bet Ciara was the reason they had to keep refilming stuff. That doesnt happen with Beyonce movies.

  50. mommy, what's a "book"?

    @ truthteller
    yeah that’s it.

    @ everyone
ya’ll welcome to riddle me, why it seems this movie idea…is usually tailored for the black audience? and why is one like it made damn near every year?

i’m tired of the unoriginality i see in almost all areas of entertainment….so call me bitter.
i know this is way off topic. sorry.

  51. mommy, what’s a “book”? You are only bitter if you don’t support this movie because one of those chicks if you know what i mean don’t stare in it, I love ciara but like i said bacd acting

  52. come on ya’ll, gave Ciara a chance

  53. mommy, what's a "book"?

look, it truly doesnt matter if a singer turned actor or a true actor stars in the movie. i just can’t stand that everytime i hear of a movie with an all black cast it’ll be the same types of movies.

but no worries. if i happen to catch it on tv and there is absolutely nothing else to do and i can’t find my remote and i really don’t feel like moving and can’t bring myself to go to sleep….then i may watch. lol.

  54. @ MOMMY WHATS A BOOK

I agree on the black cast w/ the same situations. There is always a church, always sin, and the turning point is the same. The wackness of the situation isn’t Ciaras fault but they are so pathetic. They was counting on her star power, they had no clue it would fade so fast. But thats what they get for picking someone because they are famous and not for talent.

  55. @Truthteller

They refilmed the little girl which is why the kept changing it.

Ciara could easily pull a jlo and do romantic comedies same goes for beyonce. She took it because it’s better than nothing any experience helps!

As far as her star power fading that’s not true she has a big fanbase but her probelm is that everyone sees she is trying to hard to be something she’s not! The heavy make-up, prissy outfits, and euro-pop music doesn’t work for her she was great to me during goodies& evolution era but now she is just like everyone else!

  56. @ TDKK

I couldn’t agree more about Ciara’s best days. Ciara was the it girl, Goodies and Evolution was hot on so many levels, hell I love Rihanna but Evolution was better than Good Girl Gone Bad to me, and you are right about her trying too hard. And the practice is good. Who knows maybe someone filming a movie worth looking at will like her performance and give her the chance to do a REAL original movie.
