Trailer: Whitney Houston Documentary ‘Can I Be Me’
The first official trailer for the highly anticipated Whitney Houston documentary, Whitney. Can I Be Me, is finally here. The 90-minute feature hits theaters on June 16th and will reportedly chronicle Whitney’s rise and fall via mostly unseen footage, live recordings, and interviews from people within her inner circle.
Whitney. Can I Be Me debuted earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival and has received mostly positive reviews. Despite that, Whitney’s mother (Cissy Houston) still opposes the documentary, which reportedly alludes to the singer having a lesbian relationship with childhood friend Robyn Crawford.
Crawford is interviewed in the documentary, as is longtime friend Rudi Dolezal, who supplied director Nick Broomfield and Showtime Films with over 500 hours worth of unseen footage he shot of Whitney himself.
