Trailer: Why Did I Get Married?

Janet Jackson’s new movie, Why Did I Get Married?, is due to hit theaters October 12th and Yahoo.com has the first look at what both Janet and Tyler Perry fans can expect from their joint venture. Why Did I Get Married is the big screen adaptation of Perry’s stage play about the trials of marriage, and what happens to one family when a sexy young vixen arrives on the scene. The movie also stars Dreamgirls actress, Sharon Leal, singer Jill Scott and Girlfriends co-star, Keesha Sharp.

Tyler has also tapped some pretty fine brothas to co-star in his epic as well. Look for hotties Malik Yoba and Michael Jai White to make appearances in the film as well. Click here to check out the trailer.

Quick sidenote- I love the way Tyler Perry casts his films. Clearly this brotha is not afraid to show the full spectrum of Black female beauty in his movies. None of his films have followed the long, long, long, long tradition of casting only fair complected Black females as the lead/romantic role in Black films.

Thank you Wilson from Black Film.com for providing me with these pics.

Even though I am a die hard Janet fan, it is actually Jill Scott who I am looking forward to seeing most :)

I’m looking forward to this movie. I saw the play on DVD. The story seems like it will be really enhanced and go into more depth. I think it’s gonna be good! I Hope! Anyway, I’m so proud of Tyler.

I may catch this film, and I’m usually one who waits for DVD or cable. And I see Ms. Jilly from Philly in that INC Woman tunic. That’s a great tunic. I have one.

I’m a little biased since I love Janet Jackson but I think this Tyler Perry movie will be more sophisticated and cosmopolitan. Judging from the trailer it will be a big hit with more than his usual audiences. Kudos Tyler for stepping up your game. Can’t wait til opening day.
