Trina Launches “Pink Diamonds” Collection

Miami rapper, Trina, recently introduced her clothing like “Pink Diamonds” and launched the website, Shoptrina.com, as well. Pink Diamonds will consist of jeans, t-shirts and jackets that will all carry her signature logo. To add a personal touch the Trina is said to have emblazoned a tattoo on each article of clothing that is unique to the rapper herself. She also paid extra attention to the fit, making sure all her jeans would be comfortable for women with more shapely derrières. “I have always imagined a clothing line that was high quality that I could offer to my fans,” said the rapper in a statement. “I love the way the jeans fit and feel. I spent a lot of time creating special details that are fresh and unique. The best part they look really expensive but are priced right.” The Pink Diamond Couture clothing collection is set to debut nationwide in the spring.

Clothing lines are quickie ways for celebs to make money. Somebody will buy this stuff but I don’t expect her collection to set the world on fire. Just plain old jeans and t-shirts with tacky logos and some celebrity’s name all over it.

Every celebrity with a clothing line says the same thing.

Well, she may as well join every other celeb. and do a clothing line. I mean who isnt tring to do a clothing line, perfume or some other no-brain idea. I would hope someone would be classy and dont jump in the band wagon line and play follow the leader. But in this day and time what do we expect, there are only a few REAL TALENTED celebs anyway.

I think some of celebrity clothes r boring to me. But i do love nelly applebottom. I know eve clothing line fetish suppose to come out soon and the thing i seen so far i love it. Pzi jeans fit really nice. I hate when they said it affordable and it not. Knowing most of the clothes r made in third world countries anyway.

I can’t hate on anybody that’s trying to create their own. I would like to see something different, but if this is her dream, I won’t knock it.

Like I said before I’m not knocking anyone for doing their thing, but why can’t young black people invest in anything besides clothes and music lables…Why do we waste money on ventures that have no longevity….Thats why Master P. and Magic Johnson have had major success because they invested their money in real estate and franchise opportunities…It just seems like young black people are limiting themselves when there’s so much more that we can do.

This is the new trend for celebrities if your music is not selling or your career has stalled, start a clothing line as if there isn’t enough or worse; get a reality show. Man, show business has gone to the dogs. Thank goodness I am getting my college education in the medical field and plan to do something where I feel like I am making a difference in peoples lives.

Well congrats to her, but the clothing line, perfumes & colognes, heck anything fashion wise is played out to me. Everywhere u turn a celeb wants to do these things, it’s like try something new like maybe I dunno a candle line lol. I just think that the world has enuff celeb fashion lines & it doesn’t need anymore. Oh yeah they always say the the clothes will be priced right, but we ALL know that they will be overpriced & look hoodrattish. The only celeb that I see with a clothing line that has class is Mr. snake aka Diddy.

Celebs like to follow trends. If one adopts an African baby, they all head to Africa to get one. If one gets pregnant out of wedlock, the bump watch is on for any one of them standing within a ***** length of a man. If one gets married, they all line up at the church doors with wedding plans. If one vacations in a certain spot, eat at a certain restaurant, wears a certain designer, etc…. There is not one original thought in Hollywood anymore. And, it is sad because its suppose to be a place where creativity abounds. These days, instead of looking foward to new movies or songs, I find myself looking back and remembering when it was great and exciting. I now spend time in stores trrying to find old music and movies rather than standing in line for that mess they are putting out now. The reason why Hollywoods numbers are sufferring in record sales, movie sales, concert sales, etc… is because it has become too superficial. Beauty and youth has become more valuable than proven raw talent. Sad but true!

I agree that the clothing line thing is tired. I do not spend my dollars on HOD, Baby Phat, G Unit and whatever else line because the clothes are cheap, flashy and they don’t appeal to my personal sense of style. However, I am not knocking her. Seriously, what’s a girl to do if she’s not selling any records? It is extremely hard for female rappers nowadays..not even Missy Elliott is going platinum like she used to back in the day. Hell, not even the male rappers are going platinum unless you’re Jay Z, Kanye West, T.I. or 50 Cent. Trina is trying to eat like everybody else.

Stef, I agree, black people invest way too much in Clothes!! And even though people say they are so called “Grinding” or “making that money” there are other ways to do it. I’m really tired of these clothing lines, that’s why a lot of minorities are in debt now. B/c they feel the need to keep up with all this flashy stuff. I know some people who get really upset if for some reason they can’t get a specific pair of shoes or any of the latest attire. We are in a financial crisis right now, Gas prices, Forclosures, Layoffs! and people are still spending like ther is no tomorrow!! Hello? Is anyone not worried about the fact that we will have LITTLE -TO – NO SOCIAL SECURITY LATER?????????!!!!

Putting your money just about anywhere is dangerous right now. I think Celebs go for clothing lines because, unlike regular people, they may be able to sell things on their name without putting money in. The simply sign on the dotted line. For the rest of us, stocks is going down, houses are the worst investment ever right now, and most of us don’t have the money to risk or put into a business or idea that may very well die in 6 months, especially now.

I don’t really have a problem with the perfume, clothing lines, or whatnot. I just wish they would go about it in a different way. I was just in a steve and barry’s the other day, and Sarah Jessica Parker’s cheap clothes are selling like crazy and are still pretty well done. Venus Williams has a cheap line in there as well that people are grabbing up. Go for the line, but I don’t need a big “Baby Sugar Lady” in glitter across the front or a big logo.

    @Liyah:

You`re not putting a damper on things, you`re speaking truth. We better wake up because we are headed for REVOLUTION… We need to study the causes leading up to revolution and any rational person can see that it will soon be the order of the day…

As far as Trina`s clothing line…whatever. They`ll be made in third world countries for cheap labor, 1 or 2 dollars a day and sold at enormous high prices… I guess this was her last option as her music career didn`t have longevity..

^Ah youth. Please come up with a new way to disagree with the concensus other than screaming HATERS all over the place. My clothing tastes dont support any of these lines…not really. But good luck to Trina in this latest endeavor. Might as well jump on the bandwagon and diversify thusly like the rest of Hollyweird. Its a short fuse that will eventually burn out but at least it will burn for awhile.

i think all these clothing lines are a load of crap. who can you pay “special attention” to garments made in the dankest parts of Asia and Microindonesian islands?
it’s sad to see how our celebrities are so facilely inducted into the capitalist-exploitive gang!

I am coming out with a clothing line. It’s called Baby Sugar Lady *wink wink*. I love stencils and glitter so those two will be the distinction between everyone else’s clothing line. I am also trying to start a perfume/lace front wig collection. I would greatly appreciate the support.

    Thank you.

When it comes to women and jeans it’s always nice to have more choices. Jeans are always hard to fit and most women have to try on several pair and brands before finding the right ones. It will be interesting to see her new line.
