Videos: Mary Performs+Teairra Mari Interview
The Today Show Summer Concert Series stage was graced by the one and only Mary J. Blige. The singer performed a medley of her hits past and present- including Real Love, Just Fine and her new single Stay Down. Another video I came across this morning is an interview of Teairra Mari done by blogger B. Scott. This interview of Teairra really impressed me and it was actually the first time I have ever heard Teairra speak. However it wasn’t what Teairra said that impressed me, it was her singing. This girl can sang y’all. Teairra has a gorgeous voice on her and in my opinion it makes it all the more sad that she was dropped by Def Jam and that her voice continues to wasted on so-so songs like her recent single, No No. Somebody needs to get this girl into the studio with some real song writers and producers because she has a voice that can carry her far if utilized to it’s full potential.

I liked Teairra Mari’s interview. She’s such a beautiful girl to me and I agree Steph- that her voice is amazing. She seems to have an awesome personality and I wish her the best of luck this time around with her carreer. She reminds of Ashanti who also has a great personality and is beautiful. They both seem real to me- that’s appreciated.

WOW she has a beautiful voice and it is a shame that she got dropped for Whack *** Rihanna…..but Im glad she has the chance to start over. I hope it works out cuz i feel like she has more longevity than riHanna anyway. SHe’s so humble about everything too. She could have blasted rihanna, like rihanna did her in tht mag interview awhile back, but she didnt even mention her…so i have soo much respect for her…GooDlUCK GIRL!

I love B. Scott. I think Teairra is choosing these songs, I have not heard No, No but i assume that’s what is playing in the background. She was the Princess of the Roc, I think the Roc messed up with her song choices/releases. Jay-Z was new to artist development, he didn’t know any better. Def Jam has a new kid Karina Pasian, I think she’s hot, don’t mess it up Universal.

Oh, I really like Teirra. She’s a great artist, her first singles were so good; I had her on my iPod. Remember when Teirra Marie, Rihanna and Amerie all performed for Destiny’s Child as them. It was a hot mess as a trio, but individually they were really good.
Rihanna can actually sing, she just hit her head is all. She was chosen over Tierra, just like Tweet was chosen over Nicole Wray.

Tierra was on Roc a fella Rihanna is on Def Jam + Rihanna handlers are different. Rihanna may sign to Def Jam, but the ppl who make her career decisions are all white ppl they’re separate from Def Jam. thats why she was marketed different. Teairra’s little interview (That I said what the heck and watched) makes her more likable as person, so she gets points in my book for at least seeming down to earth.

As I have suggested in a previous post…this little Tea maybe the comeback kid of the year. She is also proof that talent is not enough. You need good management with good strategy to fight for your right to shine.

You don’t really need talent. Mediocrity is a good as it gets for the most part. As long as you have good management and excellent PR, you can be an international star. Wait, you need an almost unattainable figure, beauty & youth that never runs out and cross over appeal. There you have it, the formula to make it big.
