Whitney & Clive Davis At Odds

There are reports circulating that Whitney Houston and her longtime mentor Clive Davis are at odds with each other concerning the direction her new album should take. Word is Whitney wants to stick to the old way of doing things while Clive wants to bring in new people and add a possible Christina Aguilera collaboration to the mix.

Just last week Ne-Yo spoke of working with Whitney but not being very impressed with the songs beings considered for the album. He claims they were all whiny, dealing only with Whitney’s past personal and legal problems. Whatever the situation may be I just hope to get an album that reminds me of why I fell in love with Whitney so many years ago.

FYI- Whitney’s 14 years marriage to Bobby “Beat A Sista Down” Brown is officially over today.

  1. If I was Christina I would not want to work with Whitney and if I was Whitney I would not work with Christina. Whitney’s voice is almost shot from drugs and smoking and she cannot hang vocally like she used to. To try and sing alongside Christina would be an embarassment for Whitney.

  2. Whitney’s time has come and gone. She lost her fan base which loved her because they thought she was a good girl. Now that they know she was anything but the fantasy that fueled their love for her is gone. It’s not enough for her to sing well or have great songs. She needs a whole image makeover to wipe away what the public has seen from her for the past almost 10 years.

  3. I wouldn’t want to do a song with her either. she can sing but her career ain’t on the best road right now. put her with someone that will shock and amaze. and Whitney needs to come into 2007 and understand that what worked back in the day will not work today. I will always love you may be one of the greatest songs ever but if it came today it would only be played on the pure r&b stations, it wouldn’t cross over.

  4. :iagree: Whitney lose her core fan base when she let the world know who she really is. I was a big Whitney fans for years. However, I have moved on as she started acting out. I would love to see her come back, but I agree she needs to sing about more then the past couple years. She needs a Mariah Carey type comeback.

  5. If Whitney knows like I Know she will do exactly what Clive says….doesn’t she know that everything has changed??she can’t expect to bring back the Whitney from the 80’s and early 90’s because no one wants to see that… If she wants to get a little more money she is going to have to change with the times….the artists who are succesful after years in the business, LL, Mary, have learned to change and update their style to what’s current…I always thought Whitney could sing but I also thought that her image was that of someone a lot older than what she was….her clothes, those wigs..everything seemed old…nothing new, fresh or current….

  6. I think Whitney’s ability to stand up after being down for such a long time should be celebrated!!! Not many people are able to put their lives together after getting caught in the cycle of addiction. I think we should give her all the support she needs.

This is excatly what I thought when she released My Love Is Your Love back in 2001.Whitney’s image is one of a old lady. The clothese, wigs, everything screams old lady and she has been this way for years. It is going to take a lot to get Whitney back to where she used to be.Truthfully Whitney hasn’t been hot since the early to mid 90’s.MLISYL only sold about 2 millions copies in the US and she toured small clubs not the arenas and stadiums she used to back in the day.She hasn’t had a #1 single since 1994 I believe so yeah Whitney has a lot of work on her hands and a team of stylists and professional will have to come in to give her a fresh new coat of paint.
