Yaya Da Costa, Still Doing Her Thang

yadaca.thumbnail Yaya Da Costa, Still Doing Her Thang America’s Next Top Model Cyle 3 contestant, Yaya Da Costa, was spotted attending the Harlem YMCA’s “Gathering Stories” event yesterday. Of all the ANTM participants I think Yaya has been the most successful, though she has done it pretty quietly. Besides being the face of Oil Of Olay’s Pore Refining cleanser, Yaya is also an accomplished actress piling up gigs left and right. Yaya has appeared in films like “Shanghai Hotel” with Hill Harper, “Take The Lead” with Antonio Banderas and recently appeared in “Honeydripper” and the Lifetime drama “Racing For Time”. DaCosta has also appeared on the television show, “Eve“, and was in the music video for “Pullin Me Back” by Chingy featuring Tyrese.

  1. Ya Ya is such a beautiful Brown Sista. I had no idea was a spokesmodel for Oil Of Olay or that she was acting.

  2. :brownsista: Ohhh! I love Yaya! She’s one of my “friends” on MySpace and she’s such a sweetheart. She represented on ANTM and it’s good to that she went strong w/o that title and is doing her thing, so positively might I add….. luv it!

  3. I wish she had win not that other girl

  4. She was really good in Take The Lead.

Not only is she pretty, but she’s smart too

  5. I felt that Yaya was ‘STANK’ & conniving on ANTM Cycle 3.
    Moving on….

  6. ok then YaYa –do it girl!

Yes I detected that attitude as well. She is a pretty lady but when I saw her attitude manifesting itself I didn’t even notice her beauty much anymore. I hope she has humbled herself now.

  8. BEAUTIFUL girl. Love Ya Ya!

  9. I don’t think she had a “stank” attitude, she was just confident and knew her place. Even though she didn’t win, YaYa is still the best ANTM model there is hands down. She is so beautiful, smart and WEARS HER HAIR NATURAL. I love how she said “she doesn’t need to straighten her hair” to fit in. Even when I first saw her on ANTM in the beginning, she stood out. I hope brownsista does more stories on YaYa in the near future and not so much Beyonce.

  10. One more thing, YaYa DaCosta WILL be the next Angela Basset. MARK MY WORDS.

  11. I liked Ya Ya, she was just on a different level than the rest of those girls so she came off like that. Bit the whole cycle 3 was the best, the produced the most succesful out of the cycle- Eva ( the winner) , Tocara and YaYa :brownsista:

I totally agree. She was more on a higher mental level than the rest of the girls.

  13. I love Yaya, she is sooooo beautiful. I love her confidence, She has a presence, i feel she commands respect. Not a fan at all of her diva attitude though. Ia gree that she should be showcased more. I’ve watched ANTM 3 countless of times on youtube just to see Yaya and Eva.(sad but true lol). Love those two girls.

  14. Yaya is a beautiful woman and she is doing something that uplifts the lives of others! :brownsista:

  15. SHe’s beautiful

  16. she so pretty! I agree with one of the posters… they need more stories and pics of her instead of beyonce and also rhianna

    :noway:

You must be out of your mind. There’s is no way Yaya will be the next Angela Basset.

  19. Yaya, that name always got me. I liked her on Top Model because she was educated, calm, and true to herself. But her confidence, which later was obviously a little bit of arrogance, was a big turn away. At least she’s doing well and making a career for herself. Most of the time the losers (and sometimes even the winners), are off into the sunset, never to be seen again. My favorite Top Model is Eva, followed by Naima and Bre.

  20. I thought she was a bit arrogant on top model, pretty but arrogant. Eva was the best and i’m glad she won!!

  21. Her actual name is Camara Yaya DaCosta Johnson. She was born Nov. 15,1982 in Harlem,New York. Her mother is an African-American/Brazilian school teacher & her dad is an African-American/Native American professor of Sociology.
Fan?? No. I just do my research

  22. yeh ya ya was a bit too arrogant for me on the show. i don’t mind you demanding respect, but she was doing too much too fast.. tyra had her back, she didn’t have to go out like that.. either way she is doing her thing.. and she’s a poster girl for garnier nutrisse. i always wonder if that’s the girls’ real hair that they always pull and tug.. i doubt.
