Yaya DaCosta to Return to ‘Chicago Med’ for Third Season

Rumor: Chicago Med Renewed + Full Cast to Return

While no official announcement has been made yet, it’s pretty much a given (according to Variety) that Yaya DaCosta’s hit NBC series Chicago Med will be returning for a third season. Among its scripted shows, the hospital-based drama is NBC’s sixth highest rated in demo (avg 1.26), third highest rated in total viewership (avg 6.7 mil.) and is part of Dick Wolf’s always reliable ‘Chicago’ franchise.

Yaya has been with the show since the beginning and will reportedly be returning along with the rest of the cast for the upcoming season. Among shows that feature black women as leads or co-leads, Chicago Med is the sixth to be renewed for the 2017-18 season, joining Fox’s Empire and Star, and ABC’s Black-ish, How to Get Away with Murder and Scandal.

Update: Chicago Med has officially been renewed by NBC.

  1. Congrats to Yaya.

On another note, I watched the first episode of the first season and saw it was meant to feature the red-headed doctor and his issues over the rest of the cast. I couldn’t stick with it. There is some great talent in the cast, though.
