Happy Monday Brown Sistas and Fellas. Hope you had a great wknd.

*Heavy Sigh*

It’s been a long election and the moment of truth is literally right around the corner. Decision 08′ is coming to a close and a new chapter in history will begin. Either we will have the nation’s oldest president/first female vice president ever or we will have the nations’s first African-American…so GT would be a fool to not take this opportunity to urge Brown Sista readers to exercise their right to vote.

*Gets on Soap Box**Clears Throat*

You are allowed to not vote. And that’s your choice. But there are people who suffered and died to make sure that people of color have the right to let their voices be heard. Voting is a privilege and a responsibility which most certainly makes it a quality of life issue. So GT is here to tell you: Do the right thing.

*Gets off*

So Brown Sister Readers. What are your thoughts on this historic election and what are your plans for tomorrow night?

  1. Tears come to my eyes at the possiblity of our first African American president. I will stand in that line all day if I have to…just to vote. I have a feeling that is going to be some bs involved…somewhere. I have a feeling that they are going to try to take this from us. I have a feeling that everyone will not vote. I am scared and happy at the same time. I am going to be glued to the tv Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

This is our present and the children’s future. Please be a part of history…VOTE

  2. Licia look good and i think when obama is elected i would cry all tears in my heart, happy because we are breaking hard doors and sad for all of those that didn’ t have the chance to witness it, We are living history we will tell story to our children, about the skinny black man that had enough heart to go against prejudices , Folks don’ t realize how important this is and it’ s sad,

  3. I am meeting up with folks on The Cocoa Lounge to discuss the results. I expect it to be a long night. I am anxious, excited and a little bit nervous.

  4. I voted last week. So glad I got it out the way.

I’m scared that the ppl I voted for won’t win.

I’m feeling really anxious about who’ll win {I hate it}.

I actually felt fine up until last night when Spencer and Heidi opened their traps on Extra.

I like Spencer and Heidi though. It’s sorta weird- like how I liked Kenley on Project Runway.
    *shrug*

I’m so happy that the Titans are 8-0

I’m avoiding as much of the election news as possible until we know for sure who the winner is.

On Dr.90210, Dr. Rays wife is an idiot. Selfish little wench!

    I dunno why I’m up this late…

OR why I always watch these past episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

I have lots of thoughts in my head right now.

  5. Tomorrow, I’m votin for Obama baby!! I’m going to attempt to go first thing early in the morning to get it out of the way. But I have an idea that everybody else will too. :( I am a little nervous about Nov. 5 tho. Whatever the results are, somebody gon be mad. Be we will persevere! :hifive:

  6. I will definitely be voting on November 4th. I’ve voted in every election since I turned 18. My mother is from the south and she grew up during the MLK era and witnessed first hand everything people had to go thru for US (the next generation) to have the rights and opportunities that we have today so she’s not trying to hear her own children not voting. I’m grown, but I still gotta listen to mama. For us to not go out and vote would be a slap in the face of those who shed blood (LITTERALLY) so that we can have it better than they did.

  7. For the last week now, I’ve been doing volunteer work for the Obama campaign office in my community. For example: one morning I stuffed “Vote for Obama-Biden” fliers in envelopes then took them to the post office to be mailed. Another evening I got on the phones and urged people to vote “Obama-Biden”. By the way, that evening I got myself cursed out about 10 times by Obama haters  . Today, I’m going to put Obama-Biden fliers under the window wipers of parked cars. Tomorrow me and my wife will vote and watch the results on TV.
    @ Ms. Katrina.
Your mother grew up during the MLK and Civil Rights era? Then your mother is a walking, talking history book and can teach us very much. Your mother witnessed the hard work of Fannie Lou Hamer and J.L. Chestnut, Jr. Both of these wonderful people worked hard so the Afro-American community can have the right to vote. It’s unfortunate that they are no longer with us to see Barack Obama run for president. May the Good Lord rest their souls in peace.

  8. I feeled blessed to be a part of this historic day. For the first time in my life, I’ve actually been active in politics, and I feel like a postive change is going to come.

I’m voting for Obama/Biden tomorrow, and if my state allowed early voting I would’ve done it already. Afterwards, I’m going to a post-election party with family and friends. We’re going to pray for our candidate and his family. We are going to pray for a change. Ultimately, I have high hopes that there will be no corruption and that the best man will win. I pray that history will be made and I get very emotional just thinking about it.

Please vote people. Don’t let the weather, work or anything else get in your way.

  9. Have some independence of thought and do the right thing and Vote for John McCain. Please do not vote Obama as being the commander in chief of the military requires more qualifications than brown skin. Voting is not a joke please take it seriously. I am a black woman and I am not ashamed to vote for the most qualified candidate.

  10. I voted yesterday and waited in line for almost 4 hours! It was well worth it, many people have bled and died for me to be able to vote. How dare I or anyone else sit at home and not vote. And as I have done before if someone is complaining about the government or what is going on in our community and they did not vote, they can not talk to me.

And anyone who believes that people (Black people) are voting for Obama because he is Black is a slap in the face. As if we do not have intelligence. Qualifications, trust, and good judgement is why I am voting for Obama.

What will I be doing on election night…glued to my TV!

  11. Blame it on tha Rain

Tomorrow I will place my vote on the Obama/Biden ballot. Not b/c a celeb, song, or that everyone else is doing it, but b/c, like you said GT, ppl have died for this right. At one point ppl of Color & women were not allowed @ the polls. For all their Blood, sweat, tears & even death.. I believe that I owe it to them to place my vote. The past opression of my ppl & my sex is enough motivation. Voting is something that I have done since the age of 18. When I turned 18 I couldn’t wait to register & place my vote in the next big election, I felt like a kid in a candy store :hifive: .

I hope & pray that Obama gets this presidency, NOT b/c he’s Black but b/c overall the majority of his issues are on point. Unlike sum ppl I sat back & actually listened & watched what ALL the canidiates had to say… and @ the end of the day Obama has my vote. But now that I think about it, compared to McCain & bird brain Sara Palin, I think that Flava Flav’s views would be on point lol. Ppl PLZZZZZZZZZZZ go out & VOTE tomorrow. If you don’t vote I don’t wanna hear a gripe. And to those who don’t need to be read the riot act to go out & VOTE coz you do it ANYWAY :hifive: … just remeber that Obama is ONLY a man & that everything will NOT change over nite. The brother can only do so much, BUT hopefully before he leaves office, we can see some progress outta this mess.

  12. I love this chick!

  13. You know…I get tired of reading about people say that the only reason we are voting for Obama is because he’s black. When the truth of the matter is that white people are voting for McCain cause he’s white. And that’s real talk.

I vote for Barack cause he represents forward thinking change and he represents the best of America’s possibilities. I don’t expect him to solve our problems. I rely on myself for that. But he’s a great human being, with a beautiful family to boot. They have done their best to throw the kitchen sink at him and he’s still on top.

I’m a feminist; so Sarah Palin would never get my vote. I support my brown sista Michelle. She’s smart, beautiful and she snagged Barack. A shiny example to black women to choose well. As for Palin…Who does she think she is?..she wants to have the rights over my womb? She’s a liar, liar, dang liar, and she’s not ready. Not now. Not ever.

And yes GT is right. People fought and died so black people so I most certainly will be out on November 4th. I will stand on the longest line if I have too. If people can wait on line at the post office, supermarket, Laundromat, the club, then I can wait on line to make history.

Imma keep it real and say that I’m in between; I have Republican values and Democratic. I once respected McCain; but he lost it once he picked Bible Spice.

  14. Dark Sista Is expecting twins Again

Tomorow i rented a mini bus and taking people to the poll, i’ m making sure that no one is wearing anything representing their candidates of choices, that the mc cainist take the dang bus, and i’ m praying that whoever wins bring us the support, and solution to our problems

  15. I cannot wait to vote for Barak Obama tomorrow. It brings tears to my eyes just to think about it! I know times have changed since the 50’s. 60’s etc and anyone can be whatever they want to be theoretically. But I feel like this is the first time that black children can truly believe that they can be absolutely anything they want to be..even president of the United States and that thought makes me fill up with so many emotions and pride. Our children need that. I just cannot wait to cast my vote for Obama.

  16. My thoughts on this election are that history will be made tomorrow night as divine justice will prevail. Obama will still be facing a major uphill political battle with implementing his philosophies, but will def have the spiritual support of a praying people who have overcome odds that no American citizens have ever had to persistently face. Keep those prayers flowing for Obama and his family regarding their physical, mental and spiritual health in the years to come.

  17. Just to add..I am not voting for Obama because he is black . I am voting for me him because he is the best man for the job in my opinion and he just happens to be black. Furthermore he has run this race with more character, dignity, grace and respect than McCain and Palin could ever hope to have.

    Obama/Biden 2008

  18. *Peeks in*

Good to know that some people are exercising their right to vote. Even if they’re choosing McSame…I mean McCain. The point is to choose. Some people are writing in Cynthia McKinney. No hate here. Just go to those polls and make a choice. Cause when you don’t choose; you’re making a choice. A choice to not use your voice.

  19. I’m not doing any celebrations tonight. A friend of mine (white) told me her father-n-law bought six new guns last week. *dead* We live in Texas. *dead* But he bought new guns! AK-47s!!! WTF! I didn’t say anything to her. Sure, he might be a gun enthusiast; I don’t think he’s a hunter and who the freak hunts deer with assault rifles? My point is…….white folks is scared ya’ll. We ’bout to be IN there!

    Go Barack! I love it!

    :brownsista:

Oh and YT has nothing to fear  And I voted two weekends ago! I’m responsible (in part) for Obama LEADING in the poles. LOLOL

  20. as far as i’m concerned people of color are NOT allowed to not vote. i could care less who may feel that it’s their right to deny themselves of the chance to have a say in who will be running our ocuntry… to not vote is to spit in the faces of those who bled and died so that we could make it to this point. not just those that fought in the civil rights movement, but also those that died during apartheid, the slaves that revolted against their captors to regain their freedom, those who never made it across the Atlantic and were thrown overboard like trash… to not vote would be telling them they died in vain. I’ll be damned if I tell my ancestors that. GET OUT AND VOTE!!!! I can’t wait for tomorrow…

  21. I definately know that tomorrow is a day that I will cry and never forget. It is so many election parties going on in Chicago that it is just crazy. I cannot wait. It is a celebration no matter what happens. Because no one can ever look at me and judge by my color on whether or not I can do something. Barrak & Michelle blew the doors off the hinges. It would be absolutly wonderful to see a black and elegant first lady. See what we can do my black & brown brothers and sisters when we come together.

  22. It’s great history will be made during this election…either way. However, history is not enough for my vote…especially when this nation really needs change.

I’m very excited because this will be my very first vote. I planned to get up bright and early to cast my vote for a Third Party Candidate. I agree with you GT. It is very emotional. Our ancestor fought for our right to vote, so let’s honor them and ourselves.

  23. OMG I’m so voting tomorrow. I’m so excited and I pray for the best!! As Sam cook says A CHANGE GONNA COME!!!!!

    OBAMA 08!!!!!!

  24. I woke up at the crack of dawn and voted. Never in my years of voting have I waited on line. When I arrived at the polls at 7AM there was about 200 folks on line waiting patiently to cast their vote. I shed a tear and it was quite moving. :brownsista:

  25. I did it…even though it was bitter sweet.
