Angela Bassett Joins Master of None for Season Two

Netflix’s Emmy-winning comedy Master Of None, which stars Asif Ansari (Dev) as a struggling New York actor, will get an extra dose of black girl magic when it returns for its sophomore season early next year. According to published reports, American Horror Story actress Angela Bassett will join the cast, playing the “cool hip mom” of Denise (Lena Waithe), Dez’s cooler-than-thou lesbian confidante.

Bobbi Kristina is Not Here for Angela Bassett


Whitney Houston’s daughter Bobbi Kristina is not very pleased with “American Horror Story: Coven” actress Angela Bassett.

As previously reported, Angela will be helming the upcoming Lifetime biopic on Whitney, which will see former “America’s Next Top Model” contestant Yaya DaCosta take on the role of the iconic singer.

Bobbi Kristina’s gripe with Angela apparently stems from Angela’s decision to cast Yaya to play Whitney, instead of herself.

Angela Bassett Covers Essence

The ever youthful Angela Bassett is covering the March edition of Essence magazine. The 52 year old actress will be honored at this month’s Black Women in Hollywood Awards Gala alongside Viola Davis, Jennifer Hudson and Loretta Devine. You’ll also be able to catch Angela in three movies set to be released this year- “This Means War,” “Green Lantern” and “Jumping the Broom.”

I guess when you’re as talented as Angela, age ain’t nothin’ but a number and the work will just keep rolling in.
