While I’m not a fan of rap music, I do love me some Azealia Banks. I follow the Harlem native on Twitter, and while she often comes under scrutiny for her outspoken nature, I personally love that she isn’t afraid to take a stand on issues most celebrities would cower away from. If her music was half as thought provoking as what she posts via social media, she’d have a lifelong fan in me.
To the delight of her loyal fans, rapper Azealia Banks has released a suprise video for her single Count Contessa. The track was originally released via Sound Cloud, but was recently removed, and is now rumored to be used as the lead single from her long-delayed Fantasea II EP.
Azealia debuted the Count Contessa visual via Fun-Mag, which is also working with the young rapper on a documentary about her life. Azealia told the magazine she’s been working on a concept album since she was 17, but says living life and soaking up various experiences has delayed it a bit.
Singer K. Michelle and rapper Azealia Banks have canceled their co-headlining tour, with K. citing her hectic schedule as the reason.
Azealia was the first to break the news to their fans, tweeting her disappointment after receiving an email from Michelle’s team telling her the singer would be unavailable for touring this fall.
K. later took to Instagram where she went into a bit more detail. Hoping to quell unnecessary rumors, K. said her hectic schedule, which includes taping a TV show, recording a new album, and starting a new furniture line, had caused her to over extend herself, and that for her own health and wellbeing she felt now was not the best time to go out on the road.
Azealia Banks and K Michelle are Touring Together this Fall
Rapper Azealia Banks has announced a new tour in support of her latest album: 2014’s highly acclaimed Broke with Expensive Taste.
After several overseas dates, including stops in Canada for the Ilesoniq Music Festival and England for the Reading Festival, Azealia will head back to the U.S. where she will team up with R&B singer K Michelle for a co-headlining theatre tour.
Rapper Azealia Banks is set to star in the new Lionsgate film Coco, which will be directed by former Wu-Tang Clan member, turned director (The Man with the Iron Fists), RZA.
Coco tells the story of a Brooklyn teen who wants to pursue a rap career, despite her parents wishes for her to attend college. Coco, played by Banks, eventually follows her parents’ plan for her life, enters college and soon discovers the power of the spoken word.
